Thermo Fisher Scientific Associate Manufacturing Technician in Rockford, Illinois

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Weight, measure, dispense and mix chemicals to the recipe defined in the batch record

  • Set up and operate an assortment of dispensing equipment. This equipment may include fully automated filling lines

  • Process jobs using pipettes, peristaltic pumps, automated labelers, etc.

  • Complete batch records and other paperwork related to the department

  • Manage knowledge of raw materials, staging, work-in-process, storage areas, production steps, and the general ability to process jobs independently

  • Accurately describe and process failure(s) for trouble shooting and recording purposes

  • Ability to conduct in process quality control inspection of finished goods

  • Completion of metrology work orders as assigned including; calibration and preventative maintenance of filling equipment, balances, etc.

  • Initiate improvements by using Lean, Six Sigma, 5S and other continuous improvement techniques

  • Ability to act and think independently

  • Perform all job duties in a safe manner and obey all safety policies and procedures

  • Perform all job duties consistent with the Code of Ethics and the 4-I values

  • Perform all job duties within regulatory, statutory and ISO9001 requirements

  • Perform other duties and cross training as assigned

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment using mixing and filling equipment, preferred

  • Experience with continuous improvement concepts, preferred—i.e. Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, etc.

  • Mechanical aptitude, preferred

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

  • Must be able to work within a team towards common goals

  • Must be able to work independently

  • Basic PC skills

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Basic Knowledge of the metric system

  • Ability to multitask – organize/process several jobs at once

  • Drive towards continual personal and departmental improvement

  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required. This may include using a full-face respirator

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand/walk

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
