Kaiser Permanente Regional Laboratory Operations Supervisor - Rockville Regional Laboratory in Rockville, Maryland
Oversees the daily operation of the RLR facility, and Support Services Department to ensure operational readiness of the facility and to provide a safe, secure environment for RLR staff and visitors in the building. Oversees the laboratory operation in the absence of on-site manager or technical supervisors. Serves as the primary liaison with service area laboratories to provide seamless service to providers and members.
Essential Functions: - Supervises and maintains day to day operations of the Support Services Department. - Supervises laboratory operations in the absence of the onsite manager or section supervisors. - Ensures the efficient day-to-day operations of facilities services including the timely procurement and distribution of equipment and supplies, disposal of bio-hazardous waste, and coordination of telecommunications and ITS systems. Establishes procedures, and practices within organizational policies and service standards in compliance with relevant State and Federal laws and regulations. - Provides support and training to Support Services staff to improve their ability to provide effective client services to triage and handle routine phone inquiries. - Serves as the RLR Safety Officer. Coordinates the safety program and ensures safety orientation and on-going safety training is provided to RLR staff members. Serves as the EHS Coordinator for RLR as Management Chair of RLR EHS Team. - Coordinates all repairs and work orders, construction projects, and moves of office furniture and equipment (medical, telecom, and IS) throughout the facility, as well as preparations for meetings and special events. Manage, monitor and coordinate vendor and other KP departments to ensure timely provision of services. Monitor vendor compliance with contract provisions - Manages information flow to staff regarding policy and procedure changes. - Manages pre and post analytic laboratory information flow. - Evaluates ways to improve internal and external customer satisfaction. Serves as a RLR liaison with service area laboratories and KPMAS providers. - Manages and schedules Support Services staff to include: Material Coordinator and Regional Lab Support Services - Performs other duties as assigned to facilitate laboratory operational flow.
Qualifications: *Position requires coverage of rotating weekends by facility supervisors and requires flexibility to shift hours during scheduled time off of Operations Supervisor counterpart on day shift. *Requires supervision of night shift staff so will require a percentage of hours performed from 11:30P-8:00A. *Mandatory participation in meeting which occur mostly during day shift hours. *Travel will be for regularly scheduled meetings or to outside centers in support of workflow processes.
Basic Qualifications: Experience - Minimum four (4) years of full-time experience in Clinical Laboratory operations required. - Minimum five (5) years of full-time supervisory experience in management required. Education - Sixty (60) hours of college course credits in life science. - High School Diploma or GED required. License, Certification, Registration - MT (ASCP), CLS (NCA), MT (AMT), MT (HEW) required.
