SUMMARY This role is a senior level position within the Employee Benefits Division and is responsible to make certain MMA’s mission and value proposition is communicated and ensure clients are receiving the highest level of service and advocacy. The Managing Director will develop and implement consistent client deliverables, service standards and timelines to drive retention and secure new business with producers. Equally, the Managing Director will represent MMA-NE in the marketplace to secure new products, product lines to support new business and educate colleagues. The Managing Director will demonstrate a high level of professionalism internally and externally as well as very high technical capabilities. The Managing Director will coach, mentor and provide frequent formal & informal feedback fostering growth & development of team members.


Support new business development efforts, effectively collaborating with and supporting sales force, and increasing the competency of team members to identify opportunities with clients

Leverage opportunities to gain insights on emerging industry trends, issues, and market intelligence.

Proactively share market intelligence information with sales force, clients, and leadership

Provide strategic oversight, guidance to Practice Leaders/Direct Reports in order for them to effectively;

Collaborate , coordinate, develop and execute service plans, as well as periodic presentations / stewardship presentations for key clients

Develop and manage long and short range benefit strategies for clients, foster strong client relationships

Manage renewal and implementation processes

Benchmark survey data for client plans, summarize and validate reviewed information

Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships

Identify and understand negotiable elements of underwriting calculations for all lines of coverage.

Manage post-implementation process for all lines of coverage

Contribute toward company sales initiatives

Revenue management

Drive professional and career development of the team

Manage performance initiatives, delivering timely formal reviews and providing on-going informal feedback to team

Effectively communicate expectations on performance and career development holding individuals accountable to measurable goals

Establish recruiting, staffing, succession planning and staff development initiatives and on-going commitment

At times, assist or own in finalist presentation process in creation of presentation material and actual delivery

Job Scope Communicates and interacts with all levels of management, employees, carriers and clients. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills; take initiative; be solution focused and be a change agent for the organization. Functional responsibilities require thorough knowledge of associated systems and demonstrated ability to understand employee benefits insurance. The position requires strong analytical skills, basic math and working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. The majority of work occurs during regular day hours with extended hours and schedule flexibility necessary to complete tasks to meet customer needs. Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities and perform in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS Adept at managing in a high-performance culture, possessing enthusiasm, energy and patience, with a willingness to invest time, training and coaching in order to improve performance, grow and develop talent. Lead by example and engage team in demonstrating highest level of MMA’s values Passion, Integrity, Innovation, Accountability and Collaboration Ability to command credibility in a brokerage/healthcare environment, with a minimum of fifteen years industry experience with an emphasis on employee benefits brokerage. Deep knowledge of employee benefits carriers’ products. Ability to keep current with all regulatory issues affecting practice, federal & state mandates, as well as provider plan changes. Strong relationship management skills with the ability to influence, motivate, and operate in a highly matrixed environment. Proactive networking efforts to continue to build MMA’s employment brand and provide a pipeline of future talent. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE High School diploma; college degree preferred Must have a minimum of 10 to 15 years’ insurance industry experience with an emphasis on employee benefits brokerage Maintain a valid insurance license. Advanced insurance designations applicable to the above duties strongly preferred as well as a willingness to pursue continuing education and professional development. PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT Ability to use computer keyboard and sit in a stationary position for extended periods as well as the use of office equipment such copy machines and telephones. Work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Occasional travel to new prospect and or client sites may be required. Travel may consist of an overnight stay.
