Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Diesel Engine Inspector (DEI) at SWRMC. The position is located at SWRMC in San Diego, CA.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist Government representatives with fleet support of ships undergoing diesel engine repairs, overhauls, and modernization conversions.

  • Perform ready-to-start and post-repair inspections and review of operational testing procedures.

  • Conduct assessments such as TSRA and other ship visits to assess the material condition of shipboard systems.

  • Access, analyze, and provide recommended resolutions on diesel engines based on U.S. Navy diesel inspector program.

  • Have working knowledge and perform diesel engine inspections and Formal Periodic Assessments (FPAs) in accordance with the JFMM Revision B (volume four (4), chapter four (4)), OPNAV Instruction 9220.3, and the U.S. Navy Diesel Engine Inspector Handbook S9233- CJ-HBK-010.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least thirteen (13) years of technical experience with maintenance of shipboard engine, propulsion and auxiliary systems or similar and must be a qualified Diesel Engine Inspector (DEI)

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs

  • Position may require travel

  • Position requires a secret level security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideal candidate has experience providing engineering services to U.S. Navy or in shipyard.
