Reporting to the VP of Corporate Reputation, the Director of Corporate Reputation will be responsible for helping to promote and protect the reputation of the Charles Schwab Corporation among key stakeholder audiences through owned, traditional, and digital/social media as well as third-party influencer engagement. In addition, this role will play a central role in building and preserving a high level of trust in the organization through management of critical issues and crises.
What you’ll do:
Specific areas of responsibility will include developing and implementing communications programs related to the following areas:
Business and Financial Communications: media relations related to financial reporting, business performance and other corporate-level activities.
Issues Management: communications related to issues management and crisis response.
Innovation: communications initiatives to bolster Schwab’s position as an innovator and technology leader in financial services, and communications related to corporate technology platforms, including privacy and data security matters.
Citizenship: communications related to Schwab’s corporate citizenship efforts, including philanthropy, community service, social responsibility, and diversity and inclusion.
Public Affairs: communications related to legal, policy and regulatory matters.
Corporate Spokesperson: serve as a public spokesperson on behalf of the corporation.
What you have:
Strong business acumen and the ability to discuss and communicate about corporate finance and business strategy.
A highly collaborative working style effectively establishing trust and respect. Able to capitalize on the collective experience and expertise of colleagues to achieve desired outcomes.
Strong media relations skills and familiarity with relevant business, financial and trade media, and a demonstrated understanding of social media platforms. Experience managing communications related to financial communications as public company; issues and crisis management; public affairs and technology/innovation. Experience serving as a spokesperson in high-profile situations.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.
Able to understand complex issues, analyze options, and develop communications strategies that advance the organization’s interests. Ability to link communications activities to business outcomes.
Proven ability to successfully engage and influence senior leadership, business partners and third-party stakeholders (such as media, influencers, analysts, policymakers).
Exceptional client focus and a demonstrated ability cultivate strong relationships inside and outside the organization.
8+ years of experience in communications or other related fields.
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
