Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented and experienced Senior Project Manager for immediate employment who has significant experience with managing design and construction of multiple education facilities. This leadership position requires the technical skills to effectively manage new, replacement, and renovation projects, coordinating the work of local project managers while delivering excellent customer service to the user groups, staff, and client leadership. This position will be based at a client site in San Francisco.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform comprehensive project administration and oversight of the activities and status of the design, consulting, and construction teams throughout design/construction phase activities coordinating project activities

  • Communicate effectively in written/oral form project progress, budget status, issues and resolutions to all parties engaged in the work

  • Manage communications and reports from different project managers, architects and contractors distributed across the country

  • Ensure project completion within budget, schedule, and conformance with client standards, design program, and construction documents

  • Coordinate with the client in the development of required solicitations and directly assist with the evaluation of proposals and recommendations for actions

  • Analyze and recommend value based design and delivery strategies for different components of the project that offer cost, schedule, quality and coordination savings and benefits

  • Proactively manage and resolve project conflicts resulting from scheduling and budgeting/cost compliance conflicts, unforeseen conditions, owner requested changes, and user group requests

  • Provide leadership and coordination on their projects for project engineers, estimators, schedulers, project controls, and other support team members

  • Manage the implementation and coordination of the program management information system for program execution

  • Monitor the permitting and land use process and anticipate issues/challenges for timely project start-up

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, and/or Engineering

  • 10+ years of experience with project management and/or program management of corporate type projects and tenant improvements

  • Project management, construction management, and project controls (cost and schedule) experience

  • Knowledge of web based collaboration PMIS or similar platform

  • Experience with education project construction and renovations

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • Knowledge and relative experience with pre-planning, planning, design management, consultant procurement, bidding and construction management

  • Bond management and compliance experience

  • Effective negotiation and dispute resolution skills

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School/Community College experience (K14)

  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • Experience managing multiple projects concurrently in different geographical locations

  • Experience managing teams for successful project/program execution

  • General knowledge of union construction, understanding challenges and opportunities to mitigate construction execution

  • Experience managing national vendor/procurement accounts
