Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and hardworking Public Works Right of Way Specialist for immediate employment in the Sandy Springs, GA office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Activities involved with the Right of Way pre-acquisition phase

  • Activities involved with the negotiations for the acquisition of rights of way, easements and Rights of Entry, through closing

  • Conduct personal interviews with all interest holders eligible for relocation assistance

  • Negotiate the acquisition of rights of way and easements

  • Review right of way plans and make field inspections and personal visits with property owners affected by the project

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma

  • 6+ years of experience in the field of real estate acquisition for a public entity

  • Experience in the acquisition of rights of way, easements, or total parcels as part of the Eminent Domain procedures

  • Must possess a valid Class C driver’s license

  • Ability to committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and policies

  • Ability to read, understand and translate detailed construction engineering and right of way plans

  • Ability to detect right of way conflicts and be proactive and suggest possible alternatives to mitigate any negative right of way implications

  • Ability to get along with other coworkers, design consultants and city officials is required

  • Work efficiently and independently under various project managers

  • Knowledge of basic real estate principles, ethics and law

  • Basic understanding of Relocation Assistance benefits

  • Fundamental understanding of the Uniform Relocation Act for Federal Aid projects

  • Ability to prepare basic Right of Way Cost Estimates

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

Preferred Qualifications

  • An active Georgia Real Estate License

  • Local government work experience is a plus

  • Experience with managing projects through the GDOT plan development process (PDP)

  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

  • Proven experience delivering multiple projects with various funding sources

  • Sustainability, resiliency and/or climate adaptation experience a plus but not a requirement
