Job Summary

Director of Operations is responsible for technical and operational management of the Brazil office. Responsible for supervisory and subordinate assignments, responsibilities and utilization within an office. Coordinates with supervisors in execution of programs, policies, and procedures. Conducts staff meetings for dissemination of pertinent information. Coordinates project activities of office in order to meet client and project objectives. Responsible for status of on-going work and projected completion dates. Works with regional and business line marketing assisting in developing new clients and increasing market share with existing clients.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Project / Delivery

  • Manage resources to execute and deliver on projects for Brazil

  • Review project progress, course-correct and problem-solve as needed

  • Ensure operational excellence on projects

  • Coordinate project staffing

  • Track key milestones and anticipate potential risks & mitigate

  • Lead project delivery quality and reviews

People / Administrative

  • Manage resources across projects

  • Build, train, and retain people that align with the Country and Business line strategies

  • Partner with business development resource allocation/prioritization (esp. Seller-Doers)

  • Conduct monthly project reviews with Country manager and Finance

  • Work closely with the Country Manager on P/L management

  • Address staff demographics / balance issues in hiring decisions

  • Lead delivery of operational KPIs

Country Manager support

  • Enable the Brazil Country Manager to allocate time to business development by providing support resources who can work on operational duties (e.g., ops support for reporting)

  • Support staffing and workforce planning to free up time for business development

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field

  • Operational leadership experience including a successful performance track record managing staff and P&L of $10 M US $ plus; strong financial administration skills

  • Strong understanding of risk-management issues and ability to assess, analyze, and make recommendations on risk issues

  • Excellent communications, teamwork and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to travel as required

  • Bilingual in English and Portuguese

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of environmental, engineering and/or construction management experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental or construction management

  • Masters degree preferred

  • Strong financial management experience

  • Knowledge of human resource management

  • Previous operational management experience for a consulting business

  • Understanding of procurement management and logistics

  • Experience managing personnel and consulting businesses.
