We are looking for a Medical Assistant (24 hours/week; part-time) to join the inpatient medical-surgical team. Our ideal candidate will have at least one year of ambulatory or inpatient care experience in a large, high volume setting, very familiar with electronic medical charting, and the ability to help provide an excellent patient experience for patients in a medical-surgical telemetry unit.

Schedule is Mon-Sun (variable) from 6:30AM to 7:00PM. The schedule is also sent out two weeks in advance of the month. If desired, you have the possibility of picking up extra shifts throughout each month.

Location is at our Central Medical Center located in Seattle's diverse Capitol Hill neighborhood. The Central Medical Center (201 16th Avenue East, Seattle, WA 98112) is served by Metro bus routes 8, 10, 43, and Sound Transit's Link Light Rail is only half a mile (10 minutes) away. Garage and surface parking lots are also available at a reduced daily parking rate.

The Medical Assistant will:

Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting, feeding, ambulation, etc.

Provide overall rooming support to the team.

Use EMR to obtain and transmit information.

Obtain vital signs and other patient care tasks.

Give limited information/results to patients within scope of practice.

Coordinate clerical functions.

Order, maintain, and inventory stock, supplies, and equipment. Assist RN with specimen collection.

Assist in preparing patient for procedure.

Assist in the facilitation of admitting and discharging patients.

Facilitate processing of paper flow to and from area.

Communicate any pertinent changes in patient condition with RN or physician.

Perform duties as delegated by the RN.

Other duties as assigned. KPWAHTF Qualifications: Education requirements: Minimum: High School/GED. Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant program. Experience requirements: Preferred: 1 year ambulatory or inpatient care experience. Including phlebotomy and EKGs. Certification requirements: Minimum: At time of hire Medical Assistant-Certified credential or Interim Medical Assistant-Certified credential. Washington State Department of Health issued credential. Interim credential expires 1 year from date of issuance. Able to obtain shortly after hire Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or must obtain within 90 days of hire.
