Title: Sr Release of Information Representative IV Location: WA - Seattle-Renton-GH Campus - Northeast Job Number: 172206

In this position you will:

Analyze and make decisions regarding appropriateness of authorizations for release of health information. Interpret and apply laws and regulations to determine whether requests and authorizations are in accordance with Kaiser Permanente policies and procedures and state and federal release of information laws. Redact specially protected information in accordance to Kaiser Permanente policy and state and federal release of information laws. Act as KPWA experts and provide consultation regarding HIPAA as it pertains to release of information. Create copies of medical records from paper and electronic medium to be given to authorized individuals. Determine cost for copying records and provide fee information to authorized requestors. Qualifications: Education Minimum Education Requirements Associates Degree Associate degree in health information management or minimum of 3 years experience in release of healthcare information in a hospital or clinic setting. Preferred Education Bachelors Degree Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management or 4 years experience in release of healthcare information in a hospital or clinic setting.

Knowledge/Skills Minimum Knowledge/Skills Requirements Intermediate Demonstrable understanding of health information including diagnosis, medications, body systems, medical terminology and diseases. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently while meeting productivity and quality standards. Ability to be easily understood when speaking to customers in person and/or on the telephone. Demonstrable understanding of HIPAA. Demonstrable skills using word processing and spreadsheets. Experience Minimum Experience Requirements 3 years Release of healthcare information in a hospital or clinic setting or Associates Degree in Health Information Management. Experience with electronic medical record systems. Dmonstrable experience with identifying and redacting specially protected healthcare information. Demonstrable experience with digitally capturing and releasing healthcare information. Preferred Experience 2 years EPIC
