Eaton Corporation Machining Team Leader- 1st Shift in Shawnee, Oklahoma

Eaton in Shawnee, OK is seeking a full-time Machining Team Lead to work first shift. This individual will assist the Supervisor in the coordination, facilitation and motivation of the activities of all assigned employees to meet or exceed safety, quality, delivery, cost, lean and efficiency goals. Lead by example in areas such as safety, ethical standards, attendance, intensity, sense of urgency, team philosophy, initiative, quality assurance, standard work, 5-S, product knowledge, positive attitude, interpersonal communication skills and professional presence.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform procedures necessary to ensure compliance with the Eaton MESH initiative and ensure the personal safety of the incumbent and his/her associates including eye safety, hearing conservation, machine safety guards, ergonomic movement, lock out/tag out, MSDS procedures, and OHSA regulations.

  • Implement and support MESH, EPWP, ELS, EBS, EQS and other Eaton Corporation activities, policies and programs.

  • Assist the Supervisor in effectively planning and managing the organization and utilization of people, technology and materials.

  • Communicate with peers, area supervisor, and area engineer to ensure a quality product and internal/external Customer satisfaction.

  • Assist Supervisors with various meetings (safety, start up, 2nd tier, Continuous Improvement Team, etc.).

  • Assist in maintaining an atmosphere of continuous improvement and team efforts for accomplishing departmental and plant goals.

  • Provide coaching and training to employees to encourage optimum performance and continued skill development.

  • Assist the supervisor with and give constructive input on performance evaluations.

  • Demonstrate, teach, and promote lean culture philosophy.

  • Review PC boards

  • Audit Standard Work

  • Assist with assessment and diagnosis of production-related issues.

  • Lead by example and build a cohesive, improvement oriented team.

  • Focus on meeting department, plant, division and corporate goals.

  • Meet standards as communicated by supervisor.

  • Perform other related duties and activities as assigned by supervisor.


Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 2 years of Eaton experience in a lean environment, OR a minimum of 4 years non-Eaton manufacturing experience with leadership responsibility for implementing and supporting the majority of Lean System elements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of Shawnee, OK will be considered

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Machinist

  • Knowledgeable of all lean principles (5-S, set-up reduction, TPM, etc.)

  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively with minimal supervision in a high involvement, team oriented work atmosphere, effectively supporting the work activities of employees and supervisor.

  • A satisfactory record of recent job performance or a trending of improved performance. (for internal candidates, satisfactory performance would be indicated by a rating of P3 or higher in all areas of performance on the most recent evaluation including attendance. A positive trend in performance would be indicated by an improved rating in any and all areas that were “needs improvement” or “unsatisfactory” the year before the most recent evaluation).

  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends and any shift as needed.

  • Understanding of lean tools (5-S, set-up reduction, TPM, etc.) in application within the Eaton production environment.
