Job Description

This role reports to Instruments Team Lead and will be based in Shell Bukom, one of the largest Refinery in Singapore. The main responsibilities will be to perform activities related to preventive and corrective maintenance on conventional instrumentation works.

Front line execution of Instrument Maintenance activities, including shutdowns, turnarounds, projects, Plant Change Request (PCR) in the respective Production Units (PUs). Execute quality maintenance jobs safely, timely and within budget.

To implement asset/system maintenance strategy, corrective/predictive maintenance and feedback to engineering assurance for continuous improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Compliance to HSSE standards and requirements to make Shell Bukom a safe place to work and accountable for all assigned Critical activities;

  • Perform Authorized Applicant as per Shell’s Permit to Work (PTW) requirement. Drive high standard of personal accountability & performance to deliver the Site & Department goals and target;

  • Execute and supervise day-to-day maintenance activities including contractor/specialist management from end-to-end to enable high equipment reliability & plant availability. Update maintenance records, investigation findings and prepare relevant reports;

  • Provide feedback on effectiveness of planning for the Corrective and Preventive maintenance for site reliability improvement. Support in Bad actors management;

  • Provide support for Turnaround execution in related Process Units;

  • Perform standby duty coverage for discipline and carry out any other related duties as required;

  • Maintenance execution for all conventional instrument and control systems in planned shutdowns / turnarounds and Projects / Plant change request;

  • Implementation and maintenance of emerging technologies;

  • Performs in depth failure analysis of instrument equipment and systems to establish and eliminate root causes with recommended technical solution;

  • Liaises with Operations, other Engineering and Materials departments in scheduling jobs, prepare the necessary arrangements for work in obtaining of clearances, permits, materials and planning isolation of equipment;

  • Prepares job specifications and estimated costs for work involved; prepares Work Orders for issue to Contractors;

  • Assists in updating of drawings and asset master systems as required;

  • To carry out / performs standby and other related duties as and when required

Requirements

  • Diploma/ITE/Nitec/Higher Nitec in Instrumentation Engineering.

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience as Instrument Technician in Oil and Gas industry.

  • Have in-depth knowledge and proven experience in managing a wide range of process conventional instrument / system of different complexity, types and makes.

  • Skilful in resolving technical problems arising from conventional instrument / system hardware / software.

  • Possess good communication skills to operate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
