Eaton Corporation Maintenance and Facilities Supervisor in South Bend, Indiana

Eaton’s Vehicle Division is seeking a Maintenance and Facilities Supervisor. The Maintenance and Facilities Supervisor will be based at our South Bend, IN facility.

Position Overview:

This individual organizes, plans, and directs Plant Engineering activities involving the facilities, utilities, equipment and grounds in cooperation with the Supervisors, Engineers, and Management.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the facilities, utilities, equipment and grounds to meet safety, regulatory, quality, and delivery requirements.

  • Implements and supports EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) policies, codes or standards and performs inspections with Corporate, contract, and regulatory officials. Commits to “Zero Incident Safety Culture”.

  • Develops specifications for competitive bidding, participates in the contractor selection process utilizing appropriate personnel and policies, to purchase and manage services for facilities, utilities, security, grounds and equipment maintenance.

  • Attracts, retains, motivates, and develops maintenance technicians skilled in mechanical, electrical, and electronics fields. Directs and supervises maintenance and manufacturing employees as required.

  • Maintains facilities in emergency situations in absence of supervisor or other management personnel.

  • Participates in the planning and implementation phase of the capital expenditure process with emphasis on safety, environmental and operational focus.

  • Implements and improves preventive and predictive maintenance program for the facilities, utilities, machinery and equipment.

  • Develops and executes spare parts stocking strategy for machinery and facilities, purchases parts for stocking, and repair of machinery.

  • Maintains records of capital assets and assists with disposal and acquisition of equipment.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.

  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or operations environment.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a maintenance role in a manufacturing environment.

  • Certification in Lean or Six Sigma.

  • Experience with environmental, health, and safety practices.

  • Warm or cold forging experience.

Position Criteria:

  • Comprehensive understanding in electronics, electrical and mechanical procedures through formal study and practical experience.

  • Ability to guide technicians for expeditious troubleshooting.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of environmental, health and, safety aspects in manufacturing environment.

  • General knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing.

  • Comprehensive understanding of TPM.

  • The ability to work as a facilitator for a team and as a member of a team.

  • Maintain the basic staff and the continuous upgrading of the qualifications of personnel.

  • Responsible for preventive and predictive maintenance of the facilities, utilities, and equipment.

  • Twenty-four hour security of a large facility and contents with a varied work schedule for the employees.
