Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a high level Industrial Maintenance Mechanic IV to join our Factory Support Services team based in the South Central region, including Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma & Texas!

This elite team of industrial maintenance specialists is deployed from our regional hub to a network of manufacturing facilities to support and supplement our existing local workforce, tackle special projects, and deliver impeccable service. The team drives high level PM projects and corrective actions; TPM and reliability projects; and new business startups. Top performers will be offered training in predictive maintenance techniques, tools, and tasks.

This position travels frequently to established client sites throughout the Midwest, South Central, and Southeastern regions, and may travel to new work sites to support business startup teams nationwide.

  • Relocation assistance to the regional hub may be available to qualified candidates.

  • Each site visit may require 1 – 3 weeks of onsite work , and expected travel is 75% or more

  • This position will require extensive travel, both ground and air. The Technician will be responsible for tracking and recording travel related expenses to be reimbursed by the company.

  • The Technician will be responsible for creating trip reports as well as customer billing and hour tracking logs.

  • This position will represent the company in front of multiple customers as the service technician from beginning to end of projects and assignments. May be work as an individual or as a member of a group supporting customer projects.

  • Valid passport is highly desired.

  • 7 years of experience as an mechanical maintenance technician repairing facility and/or production related equipment is a plus, OR

  • 5 years of experience plus an Associate’s degree is highly desired.

This maintenance / repair technician is responsible for providing an advanced level of expertise in troubleshooting, servicing and providing preventive maintenance on facility related mechanical equipment and/or manufacturing process and production equipment in a heavy industrial environment.

  • Facility equipment may include conveyors, overhead doors, ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, chillers, rooftop AHU’s, split systems, compressors, and refrigeration . Knowledge of building automation system software supporting HVAC, water, steam, and power distribution (such as Johnson, Metasys, and Andover ) is preferred.

  • Production equipment service includes troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing CNC machine tools, robotics, bearings, blowers, fans, gearboxes, and other equipment as required. Performs all aspects of preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance on production related industrial systems including, but not limited to: CNC machinery, robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other mechanical systems .

Effectively communicates with the site management team and the customer to understand requirements, solve complex electrical problems, and provide solutions to manufacturing problems.

The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic IV must have the ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs facility mechanical systems; facility HVAC equipment and systems; pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems; conveyors; overhead cranes; machining centers; and robotic welders.

  • Troubleshoots and repairs commercial doors, including those made by Rytek, DoorMan, Mega Door, DynaCo Doors, and similar manufacturers.

  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs CNC machinery, robotic systems, pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems; harpoon systems and/or conveyors; overhead cranes; machining centers; and robotic welders.

  • Troubleshoots and repairs heat exchange equipment.

  • Troubleshoots and repairs blowers and fans.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and perform required preventative maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, alignments, etc.

  • Demonstrates solid understanding of Lock Out Tag Out practices and procedures.

  • Operates a PC with Microsoft Office Suite programs.

  • Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Responds and provides service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards.

  • Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.

  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.

  • Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.

  • Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.

  • Operates various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.

  • Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.

  • Maintains a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment, yet demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.

  2. Five years of experience as a mechanical maintenance technician repairing facility and/or production related equipment in an industrial environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.

  3. Ability to travel 75% or more to remote work sites and business startups nationwide.

  4. Valid Driver’s License.

  5. Must have the ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.

  • Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.

  • Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.

  • Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.

  • Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.

  • Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.

  • Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.

  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.

  • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

Special Requirements:

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Associate’s degree in Industrial Mechanical, Industrial Technology, or a related skilled trade.

  2. Experience performing building mechanical equipment operation, preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs.

  3. Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing industrial production systems such as conveyors and coolant systems to OEM specifications.

  4. Experience trouble shooting CNC machine tools and other complex mechanical systems.

  5. Experience troubleshooting robotic control systems, such as Fanuc, ABB, etc.

  6. Experience with alignments and timing machines using Precision calibration tools.

  7. Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing pumps, motors, gearboxes, supply and exhaust fans, power transmission components, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

  8. Experience performing pipefitting, welding, fabrication, and millwright related work.
