Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Environmental Scientist for immediate employment in the Southfield, MI office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • EH&S auditing (environmental media, OSHA compliance, DOT compliance) EH&S compliance

  • EHS management system implementation and training

  • EHS information management system implementation support

  • Preparation of work plans, reports, and other technical documents

  • Coordination and oversight of subcontractors

  • Coordinate and work on specialized environmental projects and environmental site assessments (Phase I and II ESAs, BEAs), environmental compliance and monitoring programs, and regulatory approval compliance for industrial facilities

  • Comply with and drive the quality management system and health and safety objectives

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, occupational safety, engineering, or related discipline required

  • 2+ years of relevant EH&S and/or regulatory compliance experience with emphasis on EH&S rules and regulations promulgated by the U.S.

  • Knowledge of Phase I, II, III Environmental Site Assessments/BEAs with an emphasis on contaminated sites

  • Strong analytical and communications skills are a must

  • Able to work flexible hours & travel (estimated 20-40%)

  • OSHA 40 Hr Hazwoper

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Able to interact effectively with internal and external clients

  • Strong oral and written communication skills required

  • Strong computer skills and a significant understanding of Microsoft office applications

  • US citizenship required

  • Valid driver’s license is required for business travel

  • Must be comfortable in both an office and field environment, as assignment priorities may change

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience working with federal and state environmental or health and safety regulatory agencies, such as the EPA, OSHA, Coast Guard, DOT, and others

  • Database, GIS, CAD, visualization software skills are desirable (Experience with Environmental Data Management Software Tools

  • Experience with commonly used EHS audit protocols/tools (i.e., Enhesa)

  • EPA and OSHA ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 experience
