Monsanto Corporate Engagement Intern in ST. LOUIS, Missouri
As an Intern with Monsanto's Corporate Engagement Team you will help support implementation and execution of communications efforts related to Monsanto’s key corporate initiatives to help drive digital awareness of the company’s commitment to agriculture, stakeholders and society.
The following internship opportunities within Corporate Engagement are available for the summer of 2018 (May-August).
Digital Communications Intern
This role supports digital communications, which includes website strategies, content development and social media management. Potential duties may include:
Tracking social media responses in our content management system
Researching social media influencers and conversations
Writing blog posts and developing ideas for graphics and videos
Assist with website analytics
Corporate Media Relations Intern
This role supports corporate communications and media relations, including key business announcements, earned media strategies and plans, and corporate media inquiries/opportunities. Potential duties may include:
Tracking media inquiries and responses through Cision
Researching reporters and media outlets
Writing first drafts of news releases and related communication
Assembling media briefing materials
Pitching to select media
Corporate Employee Communications Intern
Potential duties may include:
Writing and editing news articles for internal website and newsletters.
Helping create content including videos, photos, graphics and presentations for use internally.
Writing and editing talking points/key messages for executives.
Helping coordinate and manage events such as workshops, town halls, award programs, etc.
Assembling materials for communication projects/programs.
Executive Communications Intern
The Executive Communications team is responsible for the strategy, identification, pursuit, placement and support of senior executive speakers in select venues around the world. The team also manages and supports a leadership speakers’ bureau across the company.
This position will help support implementation and execution of executive communications efforts through the research and development of effective content to connect the company’s strategic business objectives to key audiences through the voice of company leadership via prepared remarks, presentations, video or other communications tools.
Potential duties may include:
Support the development of content, including presentations, multi-media, scripts, key messages, talking points and other related collateral
Support the management of the overall communications/event calendar and related materials
Event coordination and support
Writing experience including, speeches, newsletters, newspapers, online publications, etc. (Portfolio may be requested.)
Strong writing and listening skills are essential, as is the ability to manage several projects simultaneously within required deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to turn complex ideas into simple, relatable messages
The ability to collaborate with colleagues outside of immediate team
College sophomore or above, with emphasis in public relations, journalism, communications or related field.
Ability to manage several projects simultaneously within required deadlines.
Students must be returning to their academic program or pursuing an advanced degree following the completion of their internship.
Content development experience, including articles, graphics, videos, online publications, etc. (Portfolio may be requested)
Desired skills/education/experience/attributes (ideal candidate):
Membership in PRSSA or related communications organizations.
Exceptional writing, editing and listening skills.
Attention to detail.
The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment.
Willingness to work with members of the media.
Experience with Cision, Business Wire and Factiva.
Experience with writing for the web or social media and online tools such as SharePoint.
Experience with graphic design tools such as Dreamweaver and Photoshop.
