The Global Corporate Social Media Manager is a member of Monsanto’s Global Corporate Marketing and Digital Team located in St. Louis, MO. This team member reports to the Global Corporate Social Media Strategy Lead. This role is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team and organization that is charged with advocating for modern agriculture.

The Global Corporate Social Media team is the global center of excellence that leads Monsanto’s efforts to engage with the Monsanto Corporate social media communities. The global corporate social media team develops core channel strategies, reporting/analytic framework and implementation plans to drive engagement and advocacy for modern agriculture, as well as supporting a best-in-class community management that drives real-time responses to comments and opportunities identified.

The Global Corporate Social Media Manager is the evangelist for employees and leaders to use social media to cultivate trust with external audiences, as well as managing corporate social media channels. This person also facilitates programs to help employees share their expertise and thought leadership on their social channels. This person works cross functionally throughout the organization.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage social channel strategies, such as Monsanto Company LinkedIn.

  • Recruit, train and develop Monsanto employees to become regular contributors on LinkedIn and other social media channels.

  • Work with agency partners to analyze and report channel metrics, and use key learnings to optimize future social content and community/social engagement.

  • Lead the employee social media advocacy and influencer programs, assisting leadership with social media communications strategies.

  • Present social media team strategy to internal stakeholders.

  • Counsel employees, leaders and SMEs on social media best practices, helping to establish their social footprints.

  • Conduct social media learning initiatives by delivering key training, sharing best practices and work shops.

  • Keep up-to-date with social media guidelines, policies and rules of engagement for employees.

  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and assist with their content creation in response to questions and opportunities.

  • Partner with employees to identify proactive social media engagement opportunities to advocate for modern agriculture.

  • Stay on top of the latest social media and content marketing trends and look for opportunities for the company to engage in those new tools and trends.

  • Oversee agency partner social content development support and provide guidance and counsel on top company topics.

  • Share and collaborate on best practices with Global Communications teams to support best-in-class social media content creation and strategy.

  • Drive best-in-class social media use by employees

Required Education and Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations or similar field

  • 4-7 years of experience in a social media, digital or communications role (must have spent some of that time in social media)

  • Mastery of Social Media Channels and Tools: Must be proficient in the tactical use of core channels and key tools (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, blogs, social content management tools, etc.)

  • Creativity and Advanced Writing Ability: Exceptional writing skills and creative outlook with strong attention to detail, writing, editing and tone

  • Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment, and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines

  • Experience working cross-functionally with several internal teams

  • Passion for All Things Social Media: Above all else, we’re looking for an individual with a passion for social media and an infectious excitement to shape the future of the Monsanto Corporate Social Media Team

  • Experience drafting messages on behalf of a large corporation, executives or content associated with issues management and preparedness and communicating complex scientific information in non-technical language

  • Experience implementing content strategies for social platforms

Desired Education and Skills/Experience:

  • Experience with Spredfast, Brandwatch, or similar social media content management and listening tools

  • Knowledge of agriculture industry

  • Strong internal and external networking skills
