We are seeking an exceptionally talented and innovative individual with a passion for the intersection of intelligence analysis and business, who will become an integral component of the Global Security organization at Monsanto. The ideal candidate will work closely with teams across the security organization and the wider business to understand information requirements, deliver timely analysis, and present key insights to internal customers through the collection, analysis, and distribution of actionable products relating to criminal, geopolitical, terrorist, activist and other threats in diverse geographic areas that have the potential to affect business operations or employees.

This is a full time position. Students selected for this position will be required to work a 40 hour work-week at Monsanto Global Headquarters in St. Louis from January to June or June to December 2018. The Manager and/or Senior Global Threat Analyst will work with the student and their school on creating learning plans/agreements and documenting experience for university credit hours if desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Variety of sources . Fuse open-source research, proprietary sources, social media monitoring, technical tools, internal company data and geopolitical events to evaluate threats and track trends. Develop original assessments to support corporate business strategy, offer recommendations and changes in departmental policies and procedures, and propose changes in security direction.

  • Clear and objective communications . Provide clear, concise, objective and actionable reports that communicate risk clearly and are tailored to the audience. Maintain protocols for handling confidential and sensitive information. Be comfortable self-initiating assignments, briefing senior management on strategic issues, and communicating through dynamic change with daily ambiguities.

  • Understand the business, proactively and tenaciously pursue threats . Understand the business footprint, reputation, product line and pipeline, as well as strategies and goals. Research threats under time constraints while beating deadlines. Find efficiencies in technologies and tools and innovate with new capabilities. Be proactive in pursuing emerging threats to employees, operations, assets, and customers globally. Engage with other teams to add nuance to your analysis.

  • High interpersonal skill . Communicate with leadership at all levels, support your findings, and understand the importance of building and maintaining networks both within and outside the company- including law enforcement personnel and industry peers. Confidently pursue collaboration and widening customer-base. Work to increase visibility and importance of the Threat Intelligence Team and Global Security as a whole.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Abstract and critical thinking skills- Ability to relate disparate events to the potential security risk to company personnel, assets, and operations

  • Ability to complete assignments through consultation, rather than with formal review of supervisor

  • Experience with open-source intelligence collection and analysis

  • Ability to identify potentially imminent security situations, sensitive developments and complex threat issues

  • Working knowledge of a variety of public and private intelligence sources, vendors, and products

  • Proficiency with common computer applications and operating systems to include Microsoft and Apple products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Access)

  • Students must be in their senior year of undergraduate study or be a graduate or post-graduate student.

  • Students must be returning to school to complete their degree program immediately following their co-op or internship commitment.

Desired Skills:

  • Fluency in one or more languages other than English

  • Other intelligence analysis certifications or training

  • Link or social media analysis proficiency

  • International travel/living experience
