Monsanto Mechanical Engineer Intern (St. Louis) in ST. LOUIS, Missouri

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Monsanto's Corporate Services organization, you will work with a team to provide mechanical engineering designs for capital projects. Project deliverables generally include review of equipment and material estimates, equipment and piping specifications, equipment and material purchase requisitions, construction bid packages, and on-site checkout of equipment and facilities. This role will also provide analysis of current utility consumption requirements to confirm capacities and recommend upgrade requirements to meet future capacities.

This summer internship will take place May-August of 2018.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing project mechanical specifications and summaries for front end design packages

  • Working with the mechanical designer to develop project drawings for equipment and piping layouts

  • Reviewing equipment vendor drawings and supporting construction

  • Supporting engineers in the development of mechanical equipment specifications

  • Supporting the development of construction drawings and specifications

  • Supporting project checkout and startup

  • Evaluating plant utility requirements to determine upgrade requirements

Required Skills/Experiences:

  • Pursuing a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

  • General mechanical aptitude

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Good problem solving skills

  • High degree of personal initiative

  • Excellent organization and planning skills

  • Ability to work well on a team and in a diverse environment

  • Experience using standard office productivity software; Excel, Word, PowerPoint
