Olympus America Inc. Purchasing Manager in State College, Pennsylvania
State College, PA - The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing a multi-functional technical team in the production introduction, procurement of parts, manufacturing, and sustainment of products in the State College facility. The incumbent will manage all purchasing of materials via a MRP / ERP system § Leadership and support of the Lean/Sigma Continuous Improvement program. He/She will be responsible for price negotiation with vendors to ensure Olympus remains highly profitable § Planning parts deliveries to ensure that we meet customer expectations. The incumbent will audit and monitor OTD vendor performance to ensure suppliers meeting lead times. He/She will work directly with all departments to ensure ECN documentation, part SS, and inventories are correct and meeting sufficient levels. The incumbent will manage staff and potential staff needs. He/She will required an experienced and thorough understanding of ERP systems. Champion Lean activities.
Select qualified vendors and ensure they meet OTD to promise dates.
Negotiation prices/contracts with vendors.
Ensure vendors are meeting quality, cost, delivery and safety objectives.
Anticipate and react to changing conditions.
Successfully collaborate with other departments and employees within Olympus.
Perform all other essential duties as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required.
Minimum of 7 years experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Minimum of 3 years purchasing/MRP experience is required.
Management experience with the procurement of assembly parts and consumable materials is necessary.
Must be a result-oriented ‘change agent’ who demonstrates an analytical approach to problem solving.
Must have proven experience applying Lean/Six Sigma techniques.
Exemplary interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate at all levels to maintain relationships and cooperation in pursuing organizational goals are essential.
Must have knowledge and understanding of MRP and shop floor control systems.
(BOM & Work orders) Project Management skills and experience are essential.
Proven ability to assess resource requirements and workloads for effective execution is necessary.
Must have thorough understanding of Documentation Control, including but not limited to ECN, revision control, source file vaulting and Product Life Cycle Management.
Excellent communication skills are preferred.
MRP system understanding is desired.
