This is an exciting opportunity in Stoughton, WI for an Aerosol Test Engineering Group Leader.

Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects such as New Product Development, Value Package Introduction and Systems Product Validation.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Serves as group lead on projects and work assignments under minimum supervision.

  • Applies sound knowledge of engineering principles and practices in leading team on the specification, design and maintenance of test environment and instrumentation in support of product development and evaluation requirements.

  • Guides development of laboratory-controlled test processes to evaluate product performance. Coordinates experiments, analysis of data and document of results. Organizes collaborative efforts with other engineering disciplines to meet new requirements.

  • Leads a small technical group with minimum supervision.

  • Provides guidance, sets expectations, clarifies responsibilities, and provides feedback for project team members in accomplishing tasks and goals.

  • Participates as a key contributor and assigns work to meet group commitments.

  • Influences at department or program management level. Provides input on program-related decisions. Proposes innovative initiatives and projects.

  • Contributes to the solution of complex technical problems; provides resources, removes barriers and ensures application of common approaches.

  • Demonstrates depth of knowledge of engineering discipline(s) and leverages expertise on other projects.

  • Identifies developmental needs of group members.

  • Assists with the transfer of knowledge; coaches and mentors less experienced engineers.

Qualifications

Skills

Project Management - Has a good understanding of and effectively applies project management techniques in low to moderately complex projects.

Test System Design And Diagnostics - Able to set up and configure standard test equipment. Must have a solid understanding of sensors, computerized data acquisition and control systems, and how to select appropriate components for a given test requirement. Able to tune controls to achieve stable operation.

Develops Systems And Processes - Identifies and implements effective processes and procedures for accomplishing work. Solid understanding of how to develop systems and process. Applies systems and processes to improve and complete work at a team/departmental level. Works to eliminate system and process inefficiencies and roadblocks. Demonstrates consistent use of structured work documentation (e.g. communication channels, work steps, procedures, checklists, or flow charts).

Establishes Plans - Solid understanding of how to establish plans. Develops plans that are thorough, realistic, and effective in meeting goals. Uses basic tools, processes and systems to document work clearly. Integrates planning efforts across work units. Translates objectives into clear tactics for execution. Integrates customer feedback into planning process

Manage Execution - Solid understanding of how to manage execution. Manages the performance of self and others through the use of structured tools. Delegates effectively and regularly with solid support and follow through. Uses defined processes to manage execution.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, University, or equivalent degree in Engineering required. Advanced degrees are a benefit.

Experience

  • Significant level of relevant work and experience required. Five or more years’ experience in a similar discipline expected. Some manager experience needed.

  • Applies knowledge of mechanical engineering and physics to develop experimental set ups and equipment for aerosol product technology.

  • Individual will support the aerosol filtration testing and technology areas.

  • Individual is expected to foster strong relationships with PPT, VPI and current product teams, in addition to lab ops, to understand developing technology and future testing needs.

  • Support group capital plan through scoping projects, supporting capital project leads on the team or leading capital projects.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary commensurate with experience plus bonus.
