Position Summary

The Sourcing Engineer drives the implementation and execution of sourcing engineering technologies, projects and initiatives to ensure success of the CMS business. Will collaborate (in a matrix organization) with Sourcing, Commodity and R&D leaders, within CMS, to meet sourcing goals and objectives.

The Sourcing Engineer will be directly involved on New Product Development & Introduction projects (NPDI) and will be responsible for evaluating and driving CMS supplier technical qualifications in support of materials, parts and assembly approvals which are in alignment with the Divisional sourcing and commodity strategy. This position will own and lead technical sourcing initiatives that will deliver a high level of savings to CMS products and the business. In addition; this role will support and participate in initiatives to provide and improve on best–in-class quality of the CMS product lines,

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Technically qualify supplier capability and participate in approvals of direct material and assemblies for CMS products.

  • Develop technical cost analysis tools and processes designed to analyze & deliver recommendations and results for product cost & manufacturing improvements.

  • Identifies and recommends changes in material and processes to improve cost and productivity

  • Participate in sourcing activities to identify, qualify and recommends appropriate suppliers for CMS products.

  • Proactively monitor advancements in sourcing technologies to improve productivity and savings.

  • Participate on or lead cross functional teams for product transfer, re- sourcing or outsourcing initiatives.

  • Support technical project teams through the driving of critical milestones and deliverables while effectively communicating to internal and external stake holders.

  • Prepare and coordinate critical onsite and virtual meetings in order to maintain alignment on project deliverables.

  • Extremely adaptable to changing requirements in projects, resources and business scenarios while being able to focus & deliver on goals and objectives.

  • High level of understanding of manufacturing processes and practices of multi-cultural, multi-commodity suppliers i.e. PCBA, sheet metal, injection molding and contract manufacturers.

Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Sourcing, Quality, NPD or Sustaining Engineering.

  • Strong Electrical product knowledge experience required, with direct experience working with suppliers providing PCBA, Electro-mechanical, Power & Thermal Management or Cable assemblies.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills needed.

  • Strong analytical skills required.

  • Knowledge of the strategic sourcing process and practical application of the process to sourcing projects.

  • Strong project management skills and negotiation skills.

  • Skilled and experienced in software and enterprise systems to support both Sourcing and Engineering functions including; ERP (SAP), Visio, Solid Works, MSO Office.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% annually
