Job Summary

An opportunity exists for two individuals to join our site based team in support of a major programme of work for the MoD.

AECOM is currently negotiating the next phase of the UK DIO contract and, once the negotiations have been completed, we will be looking for staff to fill a large number of interesting and challenging roles. It is anticipated that we will be recruiting for several staff for the roles. The roles will be across three locations so there will be some flexibility and in some cases there might well be a chance to work from home for part of the week. The approximate start and end dates is still to be confirmed, but we are looking for a mixture or full time employee’s and fix term contracts(6-18 months)

Previous experience working in the defence market is not a pre-requisite in the vast majority of cases.

Security Clearance will be required, so you will currently possess or be willing to go through the process of securing.

The primary purpose of the Learning from Experience (LFE) Team within the Centre of Excellence includes:

  • Developing and implementing a PPD LFE Strategy and Management Plan (including an LFE process)

  • Driving and monitoring application of the PPD LFE Management Plan / process

  • Collating / sharing LFE captured from sources including (but not limited to): Project Teams, Project Assistance Teams (PAT Teams – project recovery Tiger Teams), Gateway Reviews, Health Checks, and LFE Workshops

  • Identifying areas for improvement (organisational, process, project delivery) based on captured LFE and feeding this into the Standards & Methods team; this includes reviewing / updating Plain Language Questions (PLQs) and Exemplars, based on evolving LFE

  • Developing and maintaining a PPD LFE Knowledge database

  • Running “teach ins” to promote awareness of LFE and LFE process

  • Supporting LFE workshops as appropriate (including providing facilitation support)

The LFE Team is a key function within the Centre of Excellence and needs to engage effectively and efficiently with all the other functions within the Centre of Excellence. The LFE team contributes to the continual improvement of P3M delivery by identifying, capturing, disseminating and promoting the application of lessons learnt – positive and negative – throughout the PPD organisation.

The purpose of the Transformation Lead – LFE role will be to support the development, implementation and initial delivery of this enhanced approach to LFE, supporting the Head of COE and relevant LFE Team Lead to help drive delivery performance excellence and continual improvement through promoting a learning culture. This will include the identification of opportunities to improve processes, tools and standards supporting the application of LFE.

The role will include:

  • Working with the Head of COE, the Assurance, LFE and Standards Lead and the LFE Sub-team Lead to support the development and roll-out of the revised LFE procedures and processes

  • Supporting the establishment of a panel of approved LFE Workshop Chairs and Facilitators

Chairing / facilitating LFE workshops (both “look back” workshops to capture LFE and “look forward” LFE / Risk planning workshops to apply LFE)

Minimum Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

Essential

  • A Professional with over 20 yrs. experience in the delivery of complex programmes and projects

  • A relevant professional qualification / accreditation

  • MOP Practitioner qualification [Note: formal qualification can be gained post selection, if the individual has clear experience.]

  • Experience in infrastructure Portfolio, Programme and Project assurance and/or quality roles

  • (Infrastructure) project and programme delivery experience, so able to draw on personal LFE

  • Previous experience of developing / implementing / leading LFE programmes.

  • Good communication skills in all forms

Desirable

  • Experience of working in the MOD (in particular, DIO / PPD) and/or other UK public sector organisation

  • Experience in supporting business change and improvement programmes

  • Change Management leadership in a UK public sector context
