This Architect role is responsible for the design and implementation of AutoZone's software applications across functional areas. The position focus is on design skills with an enterprise wide view including researching and leveraging technology to provide practical solutions and mentoring other IT staff on proper design skills.

Accountabilities

Consistently applies business and technical knowledge to help establish, maintain, and enforce technical direction and standards

Utilizes extensive technical knowledge to partner with the project teams (technical and business team members) to ensure project success

Ability to create and drive technical roadmaps for a given functional area.

Creates technical specifications and participate in code, design and system reviews.

New technology selection review, compare, and recommend the right solutions.

Strong ability to perform software and hardware architecture and design.

Highly knowledgeable in Information, network, data security architecture; software architecture and engineering.

Ensure consistent application of AutoZone technology standards.

Develop standard technical frameworks.

Accurate work planning and execution; accurate project and time tracking.

Develop and motivate less experienced AutoZoners; mentor and teach: prepare and deliver technical training material.

HHRequirements: Enterprise Architect

Typically requires ten to fifteen years' experience based on consistently demonstrated capabilities

Knowledge of MS Office

Expert proficiency with the AutoZone software architecture and methodology

Technical skills must include deep experience with all of the following: Unix, Linux, Windows, Java and /or C/C++, HTTP(S), REST, SOA, Tomcat, Oracle

Technical skills may include experience with one or more of: MS SQL, Informix, Greenplum, Hadoop, ATG, QT4, PostgreSQL, DB2, TCP/IP

Expert problem solving and analytical skills

Subject matter expertise across multiple functional areas, subsystems or technologies

Strong system design skills

Highly desired Cloud / AWS / Google Cloud experience

Solid understanding of systems, applications, and/or networks so that practical solutions can be provided that factor system performance, usability, reusability, quality, cross-system interdependencies, scalability, and overall cost to develop and maintain

Presentation, facilitation, and writing skills

Project management estimating, planning, controlling, and execution
