General Summary

We are seeking a Senior Consultant to fill a leadership role in our Marsh Risk Consulting (MRC) business. This consulting position will be responsible for managing a network of consultants across Canada to optimize resource allocation on risk consulting projects and ensure effective client delivery on all engagements. The role involves coordinating with senior technical leaders to ensure effective staffing allocations, as well as supporting career development of consulting colleagues. The role will report directly to the National Practice Leader and will be part of the National Leadership Team.

Responsibilities

Delivery

  • Design and manage monthly report preparation of consultant utilization forecasts

  • Use consultant utilisation forecasts to work with technical leads to manage resource allocation on multi-consultant projects.

  • Single-practitioner project allocation based on availability, but may use juniors for shadowing / training.

  • Ensure, via job allocation, that developing consultants get good mix of experience to ensure effective career progression for individual consultants.

Finance & Operations

  • Support in preparation of monthly financial forecast

  • Support in preparation of annual budget

  • Work with Finance and Operations team to manage day to day operations within the business, including authorization of SOWs for distribution by Ops, agreeing / approving processes and procedures for setting up projects on Elite (consultant data provision end), and agreeing any new procedures as the practice develops.

  • Manage, prepare and distribute monthly consultant performance dashboards

Leadership

  • People Management

  • Management of consulting staff

  • Carrying out mid-year reviews, year-end reviews and monthly / bi-monthly 1-on-1 meetings as well as any ad-hoc people issues that may ariseCoordinate with leadership team to help set annual goals for consulting staff

  • Work closely with HR Partner in managing direct reports and any issues that arise.

  • Practice Leadership – as a member of National Leadership Team, this individual will support in strategic planning for the National practice and will help drive colleague development initiatives for the practice
