Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Safety Service Patrol Statewide Manager for employment in the Salem, VA office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the Statewide SSP program including daily operations, personnel, equipment, planning, safety policies, and logistics

  • Reviews SSP applicant resumes, conduct interviews, and recommend for hire/advancement

  • Oversees procurement, preparation, distribution and use of operational equipment, personal protective equipment and consumables associated with the SSP program

  • Reports and manages assigned equipment/vehicle maintenance/repair needs

  • Prepares correspondence, reports, policy and procedure recommendations, schedules, forms, presentations, training material, personnel management documentation, and electronic communications

  • Participates in SSP operations analysis, including measures of effectiveness, patrol route designations, manning requirements, reporting criteria, and methodology, and evaluation of traffic needs, trends, and response

  • Assists in the development and maintenance of Operations Manuals and SOPs

  • Establishes the standard operations proficiency level for SSP department positions

  • Assesses proficiency of SSP personnel to standards

  • Coordinates with the Training Manager for development of programs and training to enhance personnel job skills

  • Serves as resident SSP Subject Matter Expert

  • Provides operational enhancement recommendations for equipment and technology modifications and upgrades

  • Coordinates with the Control Room Operations Department Manager on operational policy/guideline development and implementation

  • Coordinates with the Public Information Officer on issues related to citizen complaints and inquiries, public information dissemination, and media interaction

  • Serves as point of contact for SSP related visits, media events and tours

  • Facilitates performance metrics reporting of SSP operations

  • Serves as member of Emergency Operations staff during inclement weather, natural disaster, or security related events

  • Participates, when requested by VDOT, in post incident analysis

  • Maintains current library of appropriate reference material

  • Effects department status briefings to management, as required

  • Participates in meetings, seminars, conferences, and committees as appropriate and assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in related field

  • 10+ years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 20+ years of experience
