Olympus America Inc. Applications Specialist, OCI in Canada
Richmond Hill, ON - The Applications Specialist focuses on customer support and education, with the overall goal of increasing the usage of Olympus microscopy products in the research, clinical and educational market segments in the designated territory. He/she is responsible for supporting customers in optimizing their usage and applications of microscopy products, including training, installation/project management, front-end troubleshooting, and sales of upgrades and add-on products. The incumbent is responsible for staying current in the knowledge of the Imaging industry to reach business goals, while complying with Olympus’ policies and procedures. Provide customer support for designated microscopy/imaging products, including but not limited research and clinical microscopes, software and hardware, research digital camera systems, motorized stages, filter wheels and other automated devices.
Provide training and targeted presentations to improve customer satisfaction, as well as targeted demonstrations, seminars and workshops on the products described above, with and without the support of the regional sales consultants.
Provide on-site troubleshooting for training or service-related complaints.
Maintain customer interaction information in a CRM database.
Contribute to customer outcomes by:
Meeting end-users in their labs independently and in conjunction with Olympus Sales Consultants, Imaging Specialists, or Field Service Engineers.
Conducting installations and training demonstrations independently and at the direction of the National Sales Manager/Olympus Sales Consultants.
Providing technical application expertise in order to assist the end-users in understanding and utilizing the equipment.
Installing equipment upon delivery and servicing equipment already purchased Providing project-management guidance for key installations and customer start-ups.
Preparing and executing own travel plans.
Reporting and responding to customer complaints .
Attend trade shows as assigned.
Prepare and submit activity reports on a timely basis.
Prepare draft quotations for customers; become totally familiar with OCI price lists.
Provide feedback to Marketing on new feature and product enhancements in order to address new trends in the market and to remain competitive.
Report any technical problems or suggestions for improvement.
Conform to expense budget for the area; reports expenses bi- weekly.
Work within OCI legal guidelines.
Perform all other related duties as assigned.
(ONLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED)
Bachelor's Degree in the biological sciences, chemistry or physics with an advanced understanding of microscopy applications is required.
Direct experience using high-end imaging systems is necessary.
Experience with fluorescence microscopy and confocal microscopy is a plus.
Must be self-starter with abiltiy to work with minimum of supervision.
Must be willing to travel extensively in Canada with occasional travel out of country for training.
Must be willing and able to work closely with the Territory Managers in a "team selling" environment.
Bilingual - English and French is highly desired.
