L3 Technologies Competitive Analyst 4 in United States

As part of the Strategic Development team, the competitive strategy analyst is responsible for conducting and assimilating market research to support a wide range of competitive analysis, business development and strategic planning activities. The candidate will provide critical research and analytical support to facilitate high-priority corporate development initiatives, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) activities, special projects and executive level decision making at the L-3 Aerospace Systems Group and business unit levels. This position will be primarily responsible for identifying and executing on strategic acquisitions, The candidate will directly support high-visibility strategic initiatives and regularly interface with executive leadership.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to): * Merger & acquisition pipeline: Research, identify, assess, and recommend candidates for acquisition, partnerships, alliances and/or joint ventures; conduct thorough candidate screening and due diligence. Developing strategic rationale for acquisitions including how they fit into L3T Aerospaces’ corporate strategy

  • Strategic marketing: Create market assessments and company overviews using a variety of open source and subscription based research; translate research findings into viable recommendations for business development engagement and portfolio growth

  • Market segmentation and analysis: Assimilate available macroeconomic and industry specific data into defined market segments and opportunity areas; estimate market size, available market share and forecasted demand for core L-3 portfolios and growth areas

  • Competitive intelligence: Identify and summarize competitor financials, product/service trends, strategic priorities, and path-to-market strategies; analyze company financial statements and annual filings including estimates of direct and indirect rates at the business unit level

  • Developing financial rationale, including experience developing pro forma combination models, accretion / dilution analysis, views of transaction synergies and synergy achievement costs, and various valuation analysis including discounted cash flows

  • Ad hoc analysis and special projects: Respond to or support executive sponsored special projects with dynamic requirements; succinctly and accurately present findings to senior leadership

    Requires a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, marketing, or equivalent with at least six (6) years of direct experience supporting strategic planning, market analysis and/or mergers & acquisitions. Experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

  • Strong, demonstrated analytical capacity to conduct comprehensive research methodically and autonomously using wide variety of sources; succinctly summarize findings into actionable business intelligence

  • Highly motivated with strong ability to manage multiple complex projects with competing priorities and near-term deadlines in a variable environment

  • Exceptional written, oral and interpersonal communications skills in an environment of high executive visibility; confident presentation ability

  • Ability to create polished, executive-level Word and PowerPoint work products; proficient with Microsoft Excel

  • Aptitude for critical thinking and tackling complex problems in a business environment

  • Ability to keep information organized and confidential

  • Work location – Dallas Area

  • Must be able to travel up to 10% Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA (or equivalent graduate degree) preferred

  • Familiarity with market demand modeling and financial forecasting

  • Direct knowledge or familiarity with the Aerospace & Defense industry and associated products/ services; or, strong personal interest to gain experience in the industry

  • Exposure to Aerospace & Defense market research tools and DoD budget databases

  • Experience with primary and secondary market research techniques Communication and Presence:
