Combined Insurance Operations Supervisor in United States

Leadership Responsibilities * Motivate, lead and develop a team of Underwriting Associates within the Southwest Region

  • Collaborate with branch, region and business unit leadership on business initiatives.

  • Align UA resources across segments or within the region to ensure proper support.

  • Ensure standard operating procedures and workflows are managed and implemented.

  • Set direction and establish performance goals of the UA staff and communicate progress, addressing issues that impact service provided by the teams.

  • Ensure compliance with all state insurance regulations.

  • Assist staff in resolving high visibility accounts issues.

  • Stay up to date on trends and developments within functional area of expertise as well as the insurance industry Job Specific Responsibilities

  • Administrative

  • Conduct annual and mid-year performance reviews

  • Deliver comp information

  • Provide performance feedback to UAs (collaborate closely with segment mgmt., broker engagement, review general feedback from both internal/external customers)

  • Work with Processing Centers and UA if issues with instruction sheets

  • Conduct formal Ops/UW meetings with the business to understand current & future business needs and discuss operational performance & support

    o Hiring of new staff - work with Human Resources and the recruiter to find the right talent and fit for the unit.

    o Onboarding of the UAs once they are hired - getting set-up for computer/telephone, and ensuring that the UA has access to all needed systems.

    o Manage performance issues with the UA s as they develop

  • Training

    o Identify, organize, or conduct UA training for the staff.

    o Lead the training plans for new hires and ensure staff training deliverables are met.

    o Utilize existing CGC resources to assist in training

    o Systems training via online modules for CUW and Inventory Management.

  • Workload balancing

    o Monitor individual workloads to ensure that the work is distributed equally. Collaborate with the underwriting manager and Team Lead if changes are needed or recommended.

    o Meet with the underwriting team monthly to review book assignments and outstanding work to be completed.

    o Redistribute work due to vacancies, new hires, leaves or paid time off.

  • Policy Issuance

    o Meet with the UAs weekly to review open items and discuss any concerns or issues that may impede policy issuance.

    o Use the following resources to monitor status of policy issuance: Accelerator - Auto UM/UIM forms - auto policy cannot be issued unless the UM/UIM forms are signed and returned to Chubb by insured.

    o Monitor Branch Production website and evaluate Clean Close to check for polices that are aging out towards 30 days of the effective date

    o Lead contact for processing centers in policy issuance issues/delays.

    o ACES failures, rush, new/changes to their workflows, provide UAs for pilots as needed

    o Processing center error tracking and resolution

    o Provide details on business requirements for system changes

  • Contract Certainty

    o Ensure that all policies issued beyond 30 days have a signed Contract Certainty Checklist in the policy file. For Legacy Chubb business, use Clean Close to proactively manage booking and issuance within 30 days.

    o Perform audits/spot checks to ensure consistency of issuance.

    o Review Branch Mail, Worldview and CUW Inventory Manager to check policy issuance dates.

    o Review and monitor work vs goals for UA staff and make necessary workflow/assignment changes

    o Communicate with UW management on all service related issues for field

  • Review Workflows/Processes

    o Meet with UAs to ensure we are following established guidelines and adhering to roles and responsibilities.

    o Discuss changes in processes and products with Underwriting managers.

  • Monitor Bureau criticisms

    o Monitor bureau criticisms via shared website on a monthly basis to close open items prior to assignment of fines by the state

    o Provide training regarding resolution of criticisms - identify the issue and provide the needed response for resolution

  • Final proposal Date

    o Monitor Production website to ensure all accounts have the final proposal date field populated – Global Casualty, Foreign Casualty, Specialty Casualty and Construction, Construction, Excess Casualty business.

  • Training on use of existing Legacy Chubb Systems and Legacy Ace Systems, depending upon UA segment being supported.

  • Prior experience managing operations staff is preferred.

  • Excellent PC skills, specifically the Microsoft Suite

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

    Education and Experience : College Degree or equivalent. Previous experience in similar role preferred.
