Combined Insurance Sr Financial Analyst, Westchester Finance in United States
The Senior Financial Analyst supports the Westchester Specialty Group (WSG) Finance team and its ongoing financial planning, analysis, and reporting processes, specifically within WSG’s Programs and Binding divisions. This comprehensive role will support and interact with various functions including underwriting, operations, actuarial, sales, and reinsurance. Position will assist Finance team with monthly/quarterly/annual and ad hoc reporting, annual and strategic planning, and ongoing forecasting, as well as system data maintenance and review. Candidate should be an independent self-starter who is able to drive results and process improvements, develop productive relationships, and manage projects to completion.
- Own Programs & Binding planning/forecasting/reporting ledger and supporting files: o Utilize various systems and sources to gather data for inputs/adjustments o Maintain and improve data element mappings and modeling calculations o Ensure accuracy and transparency of data at a detailed level o Liaise with IT, Analytics, Underwriting, and Actuarial to resolve issues and improve data quality o Identify opportunities for process efficiencies and improvements - Assist with annual/strategic plans and continuous forecast development: o Communicate with underwriting leads to gather pertinent information o Compile and review detailed plan/forecast inputs and updates o Provide insightful commentary for material movements - Build reporting packages to adapt to changing business needs - Provide underwriters and program managers with relevant, timely, and impactful financial and metric data to inform business decisions: o Maintain and update queries and reports from multiple systems o Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness of reporting o Provide timely, insightful responses to questions and requests - Manage annual profit sharing models, payments, and accruals for numerous brokers and MGAs
_Technical Skills and Requirements:_ - Four-year degree with a major in Accounting/Finance/Business o MIS minor or work experience preferred - 4-6 years relevant experience o Large public company or Big 4 preferred o CPA and/or MBA highly desired - Experience with TM1 and relation-based databases (Hyperion, Cognos, Essbase, Access) - Proficient in Microsoft Office with expertise in Microsoft Excel - Insurance industry experience preferred, with knowledge of insurance planning, reporting, and forecasting concepts - Ability to understand relationships and interactions between financial data and business results - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; able to drive results and improvements independently while also developing positive relationships with counterparts
