Aetna Actuary I in Walnut Creek, California

This Actuary I will be responsible for pricing, forecasting, reserving, and rate filing for Washington state. Regulatory knowledge will make this person a contact for other departments in strategic discussions.

Fundamental Components:

  • Perform quarterly pricing analysis and submit annual rate filings

  • Participate in forecast process and development of assumptions

  • Analyze and update rating factors and benefit relativities

  • Meet regularly with Underwriting, Sales, Finance, and Network teams

  • Participate in strategic product development

  • Analyze claims data and present results

  • Innovate with improvements to actuarial tools and processes


    Bachelor's degree along w/ a minimum of 5+ years of health actuarial experience

    FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) and MAAA required.

    Rate filing experience preferred


    The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.


    Actuarial/American Academy of Actuaries is required

    Actuarial/Fellow of the Society of Actuaries is required
