Northrop Grumman Technology Services sector is seeking a Network Engineer w/ BIG-IP F5 experience to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future for our Treasury customer. This position will be located in Washington, DC.

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Enterprise Business Solutions Group. In this role, you will utilize your understanding of industry best practices to ensure minimal downtime to the production environment.

As a Network Engineer/Administrator you will maintain network components related to the HRConnect system and implement/manage BIG-IP F5 hardware load balancers, ASA Firewalls, syslog servers, and maintain legacy ACE load balancers.

Successful candidates for this position will possess strong F5 load balancer skill, be able to provide general network monitoring/management, possess network security fundamentals and provide root cause resolution necessary to resolve a variety of network issues.

You will utilize your prior work experience to troubleshoot and resolve network systems, database connection and application problems. Your solid technical foundations in F5, Cisco technology, security fundamentals, networking, TCP/IP and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks will be essential for success in this position.

Duties:

• Assisting in planning, designing and implementing a high quality network production environment

• Research, analyze to assist in evaluating and recommending to select equipment, services, vendors and new technologies to meet business’ needs

• Maintaining and updating documentation of the enterprise environment

• Responding to all system and network problems and participate in root cause analysis involving network and application issues.

• Maintain BIG F5 configuration for modules LTM, ASM, and future GTM.

• Maintain a syslog server to track network events and changes to assist trouble shooting and RCAs.

• Maintain Cisco ASA firewalls.

• Work closely with project managers and business product owners to define scope and project parameters for new efforts

• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all systems, inclusive of conceptual, logical and physical documentation

• Network planning and design tied to the architectural model.

• Working with development teams on new solutions

• Engineer/Maintain a complex network to support customer and inter-corporate network connectivity

• Analyze and troubleshoot network communications failures and bottlenecks

• Analyzing system logs, identifying potential issues and troubleshooting any reported problems.

• Will be required to be available for on-call duties on a rotational basis

Basic Qualifications for a Network Engineer 3 are...

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and a minimum 5 years of work experience OR an additional 4 years of work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.

• Hands-on experience working with F5 Load Balancers (APM, ASM, Irule, IApp, LTM, GTM are desired)

• Experience configuring and managing Cisco ASA Firewalls

• Ability to address complex issues

• Knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting switching technologies.

• Knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting routing protocols.

• Detailed knowledge of network concepts and protocols.

• Extensive experience in Layer 2 & Layer 3 technologies Install and configure network solutions using routers, switches, network devices from various vendors.

• Good understanding of Incident and Change Management procedures.

• Ability to clearly relay technical knowledge to both technical and non-technical people, written and verbally

• Experience in information gathering, planning, and execution of large and complex network projects

• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN support

• Thorough understanding of modern service provider TCP/IP data networks using standards and technologies

• Strong working knowledge, skills and experience with Cisco routing hardware, software, protocols etc.

• Strong working knowledge of structured cabling systems, network facilities, electrical, UPS, etc.
