Aetna s Consumer Health Services Insights and Analytics Team creates cutting edge analytic tools to drive better and faster decision making within the organization. We are currently looking for an exceptional Lead Data Scientist - Healthcare to play a pivotal role in the creation and deployment of information products. The position is office based in either our Harford, CT; Wellesley, MA; or New York, NY location with a strong preference for Wellesley, MA. Position Summary:

We are looking for a creative problem solver who can collaborate with business partners to understand their needs and determine the most effective approach to solve the problem at hand. This is a unique opportunity for someone passionate about managing the successful design and delivery of analytic solutions, algorithms, statistical models, and complex analysis to meet business needs. The individual will act as a leader of large and complex projects involving multiple data sources and tasks. The individual will also mentor junior associates in the team. This is a unique opportunity to develop insights that will help reshape our healthcare system by becoming partners in health for our members and help reach our members where they are. Fundamental Components: · Collaborate with business partners to identify problems that analytics can help solve; work collaboratively with key stakeholders to align on requirements and timeline; be considered a thought partner who can help explore new solutions and enhance existing approaches/tools· Evaluate multiple approaches and determine most appropriate approach/ tool/ technique to solve a specific problem given existing constraints and requirements · Explore Aetna data systems to identify the best data sources for the problem at hand· Perform analyses of structured and unstructured data, utilizing advanced statistical techniques to solve multiple and complex business problems; apply analytical rigor & statistical methods to analyses· Present highly complex analyses to business partners and leadership in simple language and gain alignment · Manage large & complex analytical projects· Mentor junior team members; provide technical advice to the broader analytics organization· Establish oneself as the subject matter expert within the utilization management business area Background/Experience:· Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare insurance industry, products, data and business strategies required. Familiarity with utilization management analytics is a plus. Experience with claims a must. · 5 or more years related experience with healthcare data analytics, statistical analysis, visualization tools, predictive modeling/machine learning techniques· Expertise in SQL and programming languages such as SAS, R, Python· Expertise in visualization tools such as Tableau· Consulting experience working with healthcare client companies is a plus· Strong organizational and leadership skills Education · Master s Degree preferred.
