Job Summary

AECOM is currently recruiting for a Project Controls Specialist to work in the Whitby, ON office.

Duties include assisting Project Manager and Senior Project Controller in:

  • Maintaining the AECOM project financial system (uploading change orders, opening and closing projects, compiling monthly EAC).

  • Assisting in the development of project WBS

  • Setting up and administering project cost control, including monitor, collect and analyze actual costs, commitments and accruals. Identify cost trends and reports analysis to project management and clients and maintain project key performance indicators. Develop reports to clients, including but not limited to progress and financial reports

  • Developing and maintaining project variance and earned value reporting and highlighting exceptions to the project manager

  • Evaluate tasks progress against project schedule and budget. Evaluate project performance and identify areas of concern

  • Compiling monthly invoices and following up with client AP for approval and payment

  • Assisting the Project Manager with developing Estimate to Complete costs and revenues

  • Assist Project Managers and in the overall project management

  • Assist in the identification of change conditions and the development of Change Order requests documents and estimates

  • Manage subcontractor’s involvement in the projects. Coordinate contracts, budgets, commitments, expenditures, invoices and performance

  • Performing ad-hoc analysis as required by the Project Manager

  • Develop and maintain project schedules

  • General project coordination, logistics and administration

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business Administration

  • 2+ years' related experience

  • Experience working in a project environment

  • Ability to interpret and explain basic project financial information

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Superb interpersonal communication skills, as this role requires continuous interaction with team leaders and client’s management

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with a good understanding of Excel and MS Project functions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of ProjectWise, SharePoint or similar document control software considered an advantage

  • Experience working with Project Management software or major ERP software (i.e. ORACLE, SAP or JD Edwards) is considered an asset
