Farmers Insurance Predictive Analyst II in Woodland Hills, California
The Woodland Hills office of Farmers Group, Inc. seeks a Sr. Predictive Analyst to contribute to the development and implementation of predictive analytics through the application of advanced statistical and analytical techniques in order to deliver data driven insights supporting business objectives. Specific duties include: Predictive modeling using SAS and R; automation of analyses using SAS macro facility and VBA, general use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); querying data from a data warehouse with relational databases using SAS/SQL and reconciliation/cleaning of extracted data, documentation of modeling code and modeling process; determining optimal variable data binning using tree algorithms; loss ratio modeling using cross validation and tweedie GLM; pure premium modeling with Poisson GLM; Cluster analysis; Data visualization on NOAA weather data by one-way and two-way analysis using excel; Reverse geo-coding on latitude-longitude data using R script.; using appropriate modeling techniques to address business needs; increasing knowledge and application of advanced modeling techniques and procedures; performing appropriate evaluation of model performance; developing various programs including predictor and response variable programs; reviewing programs to ensure they conform to quality standards; supporting preparation of internal/external, structured/unstructured data sets to build/rebuild/refresh predictive models; communicating models to other modelers; contributing to the continuous improvement of the modeling process.
Position requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Statistical Computing, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or a closely related field, plus 2 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Statisticien, Project Statisticien, or closely related field. Experience must include: Data extraction and manipulation; Data processing, cleaning and validation (identifying outliers, exceptions and inconsistencies); Data quality control and visualization; Supporting preparation of internal/external, structured/unstructured data sets to build/rebuild/refresh predictive models; Reviewing SAS programs to ensure they conform to quality standards; Querying data from a data warehouse with relational databases using SAS/SQL and reconciliation/cleaning of extracted data; Statistical predictive modeling using SAS Enterprise Miner, Enterprise Guide, Base SAS, and R; Automation of analyses using SAS macro facility and VBA; Determining optimal variable data binning using tree algorithms; GLM logistic regression modeling with cross validation, bootstrapping techniques; Clustering analysis; General use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Oral presentation of project results to senior business managers and company Executives; Written and oral project status communication to senior managers; Experience working in cross-functional teams from IT and marketing to product management.
