Position Description

Provide support, analysis, configuration, testing, and implementation services for the various York Hospital Electronic Medical Record Systems. Assist users in developing training material and workflow processes to better utilize the various EMR’s. Serve as liaison between end users and Technical Engineers to resolve end user issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the maintenance, support, and installation of assigned applications, including, but not limited to: Hospital EMR (Paragon), Dragon Medical One, 3M, SharePoint, and other hospital software packages.

  • Assist in build and maintenance of physician items in the Hospital EMR (Paragon) which include, but not limited to: CPOE order sets, electronic physician documentation, and Flowsheets.

  • As a member of the IT Team, works to prioritize and resolve incoming helpdesk tickets from level 1 first responder.

  • Responds quickly, efficiently, and in a professional manner to customer relations issues.

  • Interacts face-to-face, via telephone, and email, as well as remote connection, to support end-user customers at various hospital in-patient and out-patient locations.

  • Develops constructive solutions to problems and recommends specific actions.

  • Operates within appropriate budget constraints. May develop cost and time estimates for projects as needed.

  • Reports project activity, requests for work, and status (verbally and in writing) to management.

  • Collaborates effectively with on-site co-workers as well as all other McKesson team members daily to maintain a positive work environment.

  • Works to establish and reinforce compliance and quality control policies and procedures.

  • Maintains positive relationships with customer personnel.

  • Stays current on changing industry standards specific to role and environment.

  • Attends and contributes to customer and McKesson meetings and training sessions.

  • Provides customers with application assistance, data reporting solutions, and consultation within assigned product area of expertise.

  • Conducts troubleshooting and identification of enterprise software application defects.

  • Documents progress, resolution, and time spent on all customer activity in the appropriate tracking system(s).

  • Communicates customer status, concerns, and issues in a timely manner to the appropriate manager on a routine basis or as a given situation warrants.

  • Coordinates the scheduling, delivery, testing, and implementation steps associated with software fixes, enhancements, routine maintenance, upgrades and/or customization with assigned customers in assigned product area of expertise.

  • Adheres to all McKesson and customer policies, standards, and best practices.

  • May be assigned 24/7 on-call responsibilities and/or work flexible hours as needed.

  • May be assigned tasks as needed to meet the needs of McKesson and the customer.

  • May be assigned tasks that must be performed during off-peak hours.

Minimum Requirements

4 years product applications support experience

Critical Skills

  • Working knowledge of hospital operations

  • Working knowledge of hospital EMR systems

  • Working knowledge of enterprise applications, database structures, data reporting tools, data analysis as well as requirements gathering

  • Ability to clearly document processes, procedures, and technical tasks

  • Professional-level interpersonal skills and customer service skills

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Healthcare and/or I.T. industry experience a plus.

  • Working knowledge of McKesson software products used by customer and understanding of Managed Services solutions

  • Working knowledge of IT hardware and software in the health care environment and general office productivity tools

  • Conflict management skills

Education

BS degree or equivalent experience.
