Job Summary

Savannah River Remediation, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance First Line Manager (FLM) to be based in our Aiken, SC location.

The Mechanical Maintenance FLM is responsible for the direct supervision of mechanics ensuring that work is in compliance with Work Control, Safety, Quality, and Conduct of Operations. This position typically reports to and takes direction from the shift manager.


  • Implement the standards contained in the SRR Conduct of Operations manual. Ensure that all employees reporting to this position are informed about the standards and related policies and enforce them within this supervised activity.

  • Ensure all personnel perform work safely, conduct themselves in a professional manner and produce quality work.

  • Plans, coordinates and supervises the activities of assigned mechanics that maintain, repair, install and test a variety of systems, equipment, components in assigned areas/facilities.

  • Monitor work activity performance to ensure the quality of work and compliance with work control, safety, quality, and conduct of maintenance as well as to provide supervisory oversight and guidance.

  • Review and approve work packages and lockouts for maintenance activities.

  • Understand and follow currant administrative and work control procedures.

  • Evaluate and maintain the qualification status of assigned personnel. Ensure information for training records is transmitted to facility support management. Assign mechanics to jobs per the qualification matrix.

  • Coach, teach, mentors and provide technical and administrative expertise to mechanics to ensure good work practices.

  • Maintain accurate time keeping records for assigned personnel to track manpower utilization and minimize costly delays.

  • Interface with scheduling to develop accurate work schedules.

  • Inform management of problems or concerns in the areas of planning, scheduling, equipment, documentation, modification, design, and training.

  • Be cognizant of assigned on and off shift work activities including responding to off duty phone calls and making plant visits.

  • Provide relief when other supervisors are on disability or vacation.

  • Provide support to the preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

  • Supervise qualified machinist and associated shop equipment (i.e. lathe, water jet, etc.).

  • Communicates with other support organizations to ensure activities are started and completed as scheduled

  • Performs periodic rounds of the facility to observe mechanic activities and ensure they are being performed safely and in accordance with approved procedures

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and 6+ years relevant mechanical or E&I experience OR;

  • Associates degree in electrical or mechanical maintenance and 4+ years relevant mechanical or E&I experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference given to Candidates who are current employees of Savannah River Remediation LLC (SRR).

  • Knowledge and past experience in welding and machining equipment (i.e. lathe, water jet, etc.)
