About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Utilities, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU]

Transmission Siting Specialists are responsible for providing Project siting and permitting support for transmission line and substation projects.


  • Provide project siting and permitting support for transmission line and substation projects in FE territory

  • Prepare applications, letters of notification, construction notices and permits to state and federal agencies

  • Plan and coordinate public meetings with internal and external sources

  • Gather details and prepare regulatory filings for transmission line and substation projects

  • Provide research in support of projects throughout FEU

  • Recommend and implement improvements to work processes

  • Recommend and implement solutions to complex issues and assignments

  • Provide assistance during emergencies and storm related activities


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field

  • 3-7 years related experience

  • Works safely according to company policies and procedures

  • Demonstrated written and oral communications skills

  • Proven teamwork and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of research techniques

  • Proven analytical abilities involving complex problems; exercise sound judgment

  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills

  • Proven ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, FileNET, EMF Work Station, ESRI GIS, AutoCAD

  • Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines
