Occidental Petroleum HES Sr Consultant in Al Wusta, Oman

The HES Senior Consultant role provides leadership and direction in the execution and delivery of HES solutions, HES staff competency development and support. The role is critical to the integration of HES programs and procedures into Operational Excellence. This role also provides HES Program (PSPGs) guidance development and document maintenance. Duties include oversight of all the daily HES Team, including the supervision of 3rd Party Contractors. The HES Senior Consultant will be responsible to work with all Business Unit (BU), HES Managers/Team Leaders, coordination and monitoring of HES activities solutions and the identification, standardization and implementation of globally consistent HES needs.

The HES Senior Consultant responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Stay abreast of all internal and external regulatory HES requirements.

  • Assist in the management of third party audit vendors and support relationships.

  • Facilitate Auditing assets within the Business Unit for corporate and regulatory compliance.

  • Mentor Company and Contractor personnel in the HES programs and systems in place.

  • Coordinate and support in the implementation of HES Management System and Emergency Management System, including program implementation, audits, inspections, contractor HES program support and other HES activities applicable to field operation.

  • Support all departments and Management in HES activities such as providing information, coordinating courses and maintaining statistics.


  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience in HES roles OR Diploma in Engineering or related HES certificate (such as; CSP, CIH, CHMM, BCEE, NEB) with a minimum of 15 years of experience in HES roles.

  • Experience in HES roles in the Oil and gas industry is strongly preferred.

  • Training and consultancy experience is strongly preferred.

  • Good knowledge of Omani and international HES standards and legislation as applicable to O&G industry.

  • Good knowledge and experience of all aspects of HES management system.

  • Providing administrative support in all HES department activities.

  • Excellent PC skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent Communication & Interpersonal skills.

  • Possess the ability to interact with all levels of operational personnel.

  • Demonstrated experience with audit procedures and report writing.

  • Internal consulting and coaching experience is helpful with strong influencing skills.

  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to work as part of a team in a bottom-line driven, fast-paced environment, juggling multiple projects with ever-changing priorities and deadlines.
