About the Opportunity
At present the digital advertising ecosystem is under constant threat from fraudsters looking to profit off of ads that are never being shown to their intended audience. Every ad that isn’t shown to a legitimate person is wasting money for the brands that we aim to protect, and can have a significant impact on the effectiveness of an ad campaign. For these reasons preventing fraud is a major priority for Moat and for the industry in general. We aim to be at the forefront of ad fraud detection and prevention. Your role will be to draw on your mobile engineering expertise to lead research projects that are focused on detecting and preventing mobile ad fraud.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assessing current mobile fraud signals in our data pipeline and devising new ones to improve our fraud detection capabilities. You would be working closely with our data science team and learning to use cutting edge data analysis techniques.
Enhancing our mobile security techniques to always stay one step ahead of fraudsters trying to tamper with our data signals.
Dissecting mobile applications already on the market in search of fraudulent activity.
3-5 years of work experience with mobile platforms and operating systems. Expert knowledge of the operating system and its runtime is required; practical experience with reverse engineering and decompilation is very useful. Knowledge of both Android and iOS is preferred, but Android takes precedence.
Working knowledge of networking concepts and client-to-server communication. Practical understanding of proxies, PKI, and certificates.
Basic proficiency with scripting in Python and shell.
Good intuition for visualizing and interpreting data. Experience with basic data analytics techniques and methodologies, including knowledge of standard descriptive statistics like mean, median, and deviation; probability; and simple trend techniques, like regression.
Knowledge of digital advertising ecosystem.
Experience with AWS Cloud tools, like S3, EMR, etc.
Familiarity with machine learning methodologies
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will apply basic to intermediate knowledge of software architecture to perform software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications or operating systems according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture.
Duties and tasks are standard with some variation; displays understanding of roles, processes and procedures. Performs moderately complex problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and processes. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 1 year of software engineering or related experience.
