Job Summary: Drive brand awareness and creative consistency of the Medicine Shoppe Franchise

The Graphic Designer is responsible for the creative asset development and management of McKesson Canada’s Medicine Shoppe Canada retail pharmacy franchise. The Graphic Designer is the creative steward of the brand and the franchisees. He/she maintains a vigilant eye on the creative development and execution of local store marketing assets including branding consistency across local store campaigns (Grand Openings, Seasonal events, Customized local marketing assets, adaptations of national campaigns) store operations design elements, develops measurable strategies and plans to further strengthen the creative positioning of these brands in the marketplace and develops and manages an on-line repository of local marketing assets that are easily accessible to franchisees. The Graphic Designer recommends and executes internal and external holistic marketing assets to drive awareness of the Medicine Shoppe to generate increased store traffic and manages the brand guidelines. He/she will have a strong understanding of digital and social media creative concepts and executions. The Graphic Designer will report to the Marketing Manager. The Graphic Designer is based in Edmonton (AB).

Key Responsibilities

The Graphic Designer:

  • Is the guardian of the brand guidelines

  • Ensures application of visual identity standards

  • Develops external facing local marketing assets consistent with the Medicine Shoppe Canada brand guidelines

  • Oversees creative creation and development of exterior signage in partnership with Store Development & Design

  • Oversees creation and development of in-store signage in partnership with Store Development & Design

  • Develops and maintains an on-line member facing marketing asset repository that is easily accessible to franchisees

  • Conducts, tracks and reports quarterly on brand standards. Implements indicated actions from quarterlybrand audits

  • Supports the branding and marketing of franchise events

  • Conceives and oversees the development of marketing activities and tools:

  • Supports the roll-out of pharmacy services programs

  • Supports the roll-out of store operations priorities

  • Develop and maintains banner digital and social media creative assets

  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive creative production calendar

  • Develops and maintains design, production and distribution procedures

  • Partners with the Marketing Manager to manage various creative agency and supplier relationships


  • A college or undergraduate degree in relevant field

  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience, preferably with some in retail and / or health care creative / marketing

  • Proficiency in MAC operation and InDesign files development

  • Knowledge of the competitive landscape in the community pharmacy space

  • Superior graphic design and creative ability

  • Proven track record of leveraging all forms of brand expression

  • Comfortable in working in a shared services environment

  • Strong communication skills
