The Desktop Technician VI will provide desktop support for users and manage the resolution of each incident or problem ticket entered into the Helpdesk call center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:(Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position)

  • Provide desktop computer support for general office software, specialized software, educational software, and software used by any of the supported bureaus.

  • Follow all software installation procedures as developed by the Government.

  • Provide support for hardware installation and configuration to include desktop computers, laptops, table devices, smartphones, tablets, printers, scanners, network routers, switches, servers, uninterruptible power supplies, private branch exchange devices, interactive white boards, LCD projectors, monitors, evolving devices, etc.

  • Common trouble tickets include the following: add user to network printer, assist user in mapping to a shared network drive, install approved software, install computer for new employee, install failed hard drive, image spare hard drives, etc.

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of computer components and equipment and software assigned by the government.

  • Participate in User Support conference calls in support of training and new IT requirements.

  • Lead desktop support team.

Non-Essential Duties:

  • Other duties as assigned to support the needs of the customer/client.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managerial duties, to include reviewing and approving timecards.

Minimum Qualifications:(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Associates Degree or combination of education and experience.

  • 7 years of related technical experience in supporting desktop computers, laptop computers, mobile devices, printers, scanners, local area networks, servers and network switches. Support would include (but not limited to): installing and troubleshooting hardware and software.

  • Managerial experience with 10 staff.

  • Experience serving as SME for information technology projects.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Expert ability to support Microsoft operating systems.

  • Expert working knowledge of general office software such Microsoft Office and Google mail.

  • Ability to support specialized software such as GIS and AutoCAD and software unique to Indian Affairs.

  • Ability to develop project management documentation.

  • Ability to work without guidance.

  • Ability to manage and initiate projects.

  • Ability to obtain an IA driver’s license which will allow operation of a government vehicle

  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays

  • Ability to travel
