As part of the mDNA team, the candidate will channel a passion for data, to design and implement scalable, robust, and real-time big data solutions with an analytics platform that helps our business transform data into competitive advantage. Position Description

As a key member of the Data Analytics team you will be responsible for designing and implementing major components of next generation data platform at McKesson. You will be involved in the software development lifecycle from strategy, architecture, design, implementation, testing to release with a focus on delivering solutions against business goals, technical requirements and McKesson engineering standards.

Our perfect candidate will have a background in Computer Science or a related technical field and possess extensive experience in designing, building and maintaining highly-available, large data stores. You will be working with cross-functional teams and highly influencing data decisions. You are focused on results, highly-motivated, and have demonstrated success in using engineering and analytics to drive the understanding, growth, and success of a product.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design of a Data Lake that will be the central source of truth

  • Design scalable and reliable solutions for moving data efficiently across systems from various internal and external data sources in both, batch and real-time modes

  • Interface directly with business and process partners to understand their needs and objectives first-hand

  • Provide training on how to interpret and use data for business analysis

  • Provide coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partners, business and customer results

  • Identify and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results

Minimum Requirements

Typically has 8 years relevant experience.

Critical Skills

  • Extensive experience (3 years) with designing and implementing Data Lakes or similar solutions

  • Extensive experience (3 years) with the Big Data technologies: Hadoop (preferred - Cloudera), Hbase, Hive, Sqoop, Oozie and Azkaban

  • Strong experience with data & information architecture: dimensional data modeling & schema design in Data Warehouses, service design, development & implementation for ingestion and consumption

  • Understanding of, and expertise in schema-on-demand patterns

  • Solid understanding of the storage solutions (cloud, hybrid, on-premise)

  • Project Management skills-ability to manage complex data oriented program to produce on-time results and recommendations for action/next steps

  • Must have proven ability to work with senior leaders

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience with Spark, Impala, Kafka, Pig, Zookeper, Flume, and Streaming

  • Solid understanding of SAP architecture and solutions (ECC, BW, HANA)

  • Understanding of the agile software development methodology Scrum

  • Experience with ETL tools such as IBM IIS 11.5

  • Exposure to Unix/Linux

  • Strong experience with distributed cluster management

Education

4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
