McKesson Sr. Accounting Manager in Alpharetta, Georgia

Our Corporate Accounting team is seeking a seasoned accounting manager, ideally with public accounting and/or large public company experience. A successful candidate will have a track record of delivering quality and accurate work in a high performance/fast paced culture. We are looking for qualified candidates who can adapt quickly to change and move fluently between accounting/finance subject matters. Current Need

This role will primarily be responsible for Lease, Tech Acct, Cash Flow, CHC, Ledger Close Primary responsibilities include the close of Corporate books on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.


  • Manage and perform general ledger month-end close activities including: preparation and/or review of journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis and management reporting

  • Manage accounting/analysis/reporting of corporate transactions, including preparation or review of cash flow, joint venture accounting and lease accounting

  • Support the project management team with the implementation of new accounting standards, such as ASC 842, Leases , by leading workstreams and providing technical accounting support to business units prior to, during and after implementation is complete

  • Meet with business partners to discuss accruals, forecasts and budgets

  • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly reporting schedules provided to other finance partners

  • Partner with internal business partners to report, forecast, and manage communication of corporate expenses

  • Manage the proper recognition of GAAP vs. non-GAAP transaction costs

  • Manage accounting for real estate transactions including sale-leaseback and build-to-suit lease arrangements

  • Provide direct input to external reporting team on other 10-Q/10-K disclosures, such as noncontrolling interests, stockholder’s equity and other comprehensive income

  • Support annual audits

  • Manage, develop and train staff

Adhoc/Special Projects Responsibilities

  • Participate in required Corporate Accounting cross training program to develop knowledge in other functional areas, such as stock-based compensation, venture capital investments, GL accounting, etc.

  • Proactively develop and execute process improvement initiatives while building upon/changing existing platforms

  • Perform technical accounting research and write comprehensive position memos to support conclusions on various topics

Minimum Requirements

6 years of product management experience including 4 years managerial experience

Critical Skills

  • 6 years of relevant experience in Big Four and/or large public companies

  • Executive presence and ability to influence

  • Strong experience in US GAAP, SEC reporting, Financial Statements preparation and presentation and SOX requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting policies, practices and systems

  • Possess a high level of written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven leadership experience to drive a faster resolution of technical issues, communication of those issues, and process improvement

  • Strong experience building relationships with internal business partners and outside vendors

  • Experience in forecasting, budgeting, and business process reengineering (BPR)

  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)

  • Ability to analyze, organize, summarize, and articulate complex financial information

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience managing accounting/analysis/reporting of corporate transactions, including preparation or review of cash flow, joint venture accounting and lease accounting

  • Experience in real-estate transactions: sale-leaseback and build-to-lease arrangements

  • Ability to manage and prioritize various responsibilities with competing/short deadlines

  • BI (Business Intelligence) as well as ERP (especially SAP) experience/knowledge is highly desired

  • Excellent analytical capabilities including Microsoft Excel skills and spreadsheet analysis techniques required with strong attention to detail

  • Experience using SAP, Essbase, Hyperion Planning, and HFM

  • Supervisory, project management or other similar experience leading process improvement (Six Sigma, etc.) initiatives


  • 4-year degree in Accounting or Finance (Required)

  • CPA required

  • MBA preferred
