Position Title Geologist / Physical Scientist

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Geologist / Physical Scientist for immediate employment for the Anchorage, AK office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
Preparation of physical science and geologic studies as both a lead and team member. This position requires multi-disciplinary knowledge.
Makes recommendations on work methods and procedures and technical innovations by devising practical and economical solutions to problems in own discipline.
Makes recommendations on research requests, objectives, priorities and timing. Assess need for change and recommends development of standards. Assess work against standards, objectives and specifications.
Utilizes advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies when working on unusually complex technical problems.
Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Manages scope, schedule and budgets for proposal pursuits and project and task execution.
Responsible for HSE activities associated with project management and participates in proactive HSE compliance.
Develops solutions which are highly innovative.
May oversee the work of less experienced scientists.
Apply understanding of physical sciences to evaluate and mitigate impacts of development.
Interpersonal communication and strong technical writing skills are required for this position.
Interacts as part of the project team and will have direct communications (written and in person) with clients.
Provides marketing and business development support and may have considerable interaction with clients.
Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Hydrology, Physical, or Environmental Sciences or related field
5+ years' experience successfully preparing studies and planning documents associated with resource development and mitigation
Experience in Alaska required
Participation as a lead author or technical expert in preparation of NEPA documents
Understanding of applicable environmental regulatory framework for Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, including applicable state and federal laws
Strong research and analytical abilities
Strong written and oral communication skills, including the editing, oversight or preparation of technical reports
Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously
Advanced Degree in Geology or related field
FERC and DOD experience
Background working with federal and state government agencies
Familiarity with rural Alaska communities
Experience interacting with state and local regulatory agency representatives in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest
