Eaton Corporation Process Engineer in Arden, North Carolina

Eaton’s manufacturing facility located in Arden, NC has an opening for a Process Engineer.

This position is responsible for the maintenance, development, and improvement of business processes and systems for manufacturing and front end functions. This position will serve as the Asheville plant administrator for the Eaton Test Data Management (TDM) system. This position will ensure the sustainability of systems created internally, and be the point person for day to day systems issues and questions that arise.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage TDM licensing, data, and reporting requests and continuously improve the TDM system to provide the plant the most gain from the system. Ensure TDM systems are maintained and upgraded on the floor and act as a liaison for TDM troubleshooting. This includes SQL reporting for the plant.

  • Maintain all home grown systems such as Microsoft Excel and Access tools. Write and debug Visual Basic (VBA) code to optimally achieve desired business process results. Has a very strong knowledge of VBA, Excel, and how the systems work.

  • Constantly assess and identify opportunities for improvement relating to business processes and systems to ensure they are adding maximum benefit to the plant.

  • Maintain the MQ1 system and act as plant liaison for MQ1 troubleshooting and maintenance.

  • Ensure sustainability of all home grown tools and programs created internally through documentation and standardization.

  • Work cross functionally with manufacturing engineering, operations, fabrication, and quality to identify business system needs, improve data availability and accuracy, and streamline business processes.

  • Project manage business process improvement projects to timely completion.

  • Investigate new technologies and processes in terms of the potential benefit to the business.

  • Train and develop local employees to be able to understand, maintain, and interpret business systems and their output.

  • Develop and support new initiatives and improvement programs related to manufacturing information and execution systems including bill of materials, routings, work instructions, process standards, shop floor control, and material planning to support business strategies.

  • Develop and maintain SharePoint sites for the plant.

  • Complete additional responsibilities as required.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Information Technology from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with manufacturing processes

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or systems engineering.

  • Experience in an assembly or fabrication environment.

  • Technical knowledge in manufacturing processes, quality methods, industrial engineering, and project management preferred.

  • Experience programming with SQL Servers is preferred.

  • Visual Basic experience

Position Criteria:

  • Experience developing, integrating, and supporting manufacturing systems with business processes.

  • Excellent computer skills. Experience programming using Visual Basic, extreme proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs. Individual must have a very strong systems background and demonstrate strong project management ability.
