Paramedic - Emergency Services Technician II Medical City Arlington Full Time Nights (Rotating Weekends)
POSITION SUMMARY Technical support staff to registered nursing staff; patient/customer liaison; department transport facilitator; works under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs services relevant to patient care/treatment as delegated by the registered nurse; assists nursing staff and physicians with procedures; reports patient requests/complaints or change in patient status to primary care nurse or team leader within a timely manner; transports patients to other departments as delegated by nursing staff; maintains competency within scope of practice and attends educational programs and in-services as required. Provides patient care as needed for patient types, which include but are not limited to neurological disorders, oncologic, cardiac services, orthopedic disorders, and Trauma in the following age categories: adult, pediatric and geriatric populations.
Minimum Education / Licensure / Certifications: Current certification/licensure as EMT-P in the State of Texas Current CPR Healthcare Provider issued by the American Heart Association required PALS preferred ACLS preferred.
Experience: Experience in EMS preferred Emergency Department/hospital experience preferred.
Special Demands: Handling of hazardous substances may be required to care for or be exposed to patients receiving: cancer chemotherapeutic agents and/or radiation therapy; exposure to biological agents/chemical agents in the event of a disaster; exposure to patients with known or unknown contagious medical conditions.Handles and transport non-controlled medication only. Transports and handles non-controlled medications, receives and hands off controlled and non controlled medications to the physician from the sterile field.
