Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Commissioning Electrician to support facility design and construction programs in our Arlington, VA office. The qualified candidate will have proven past performance both executing and leading quality control inspections and testing on behalf of the installing contractor, equipment manufacturer or NETA Testing Agent in a supervisory role.

Experience as the installing contractor with responsibilities for testing and documenting power distribution in critical facilities is required including; healthcare, data centers, emergency operations centers, pharmaceutical and laboratory facilities. The candidate will interface daily with his/her project team as well as clients, operators, contractors, design teams and manufacturers. The ability to communicate clearly both orally and written with each group is significant so that issues are well document and resolved at the earliest time.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Consults with client and design team regarding electrical equipment, testing, and operational requirements

  • Reviews electrical design submittals for conformance with owner requirements and code

  • Travels from office to project sites

  • Conducts electrical commissioning scoping meeting with required project stakeholders

  • Reviews power distribution shop drawings concurrent with the engineer of record

  • Assists with the development of equipment prefunctional checkout and functional test procedures

  • Develops load bank test plans and strategies

  • Consults with mechanical commissioning engineers on electrical loads and hvac performance test requirements

  • Leads quality assurance and commissioning inspections throughout installation phase

  • Leads electrical commissioning coordination meetings throughout construction

  • Consults with independent test agent to coordinate test schedule and documentation requirements

  • Witnesses and documents the results of Factory Testing, Receipt Inspection, NETA, Prefunctional Checkout, Functional Testing, and Operator Training

  • Position may require onsite support for troubleshooting or O&M support

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma

  • 8+ Years of electrical construction experience and experience in critical facilities including healthcare, data centers, pharmaceutical, or emergency operations centers

  • Master Electrician

  • Certification through NETA or NICET

  • Experience Managing and Inspecting the installation of Medium Voltage and Low Voltage Power Distribution Equipment

  • Experience performing quality control and/or quality assurance testing of power distribution equipment and conductors

  • Experience with critical power equipment including: Generators, Paralleling Switchgear, Automatic Transfer Switches, Uninterrupted Power Supply

  • Must be knowledgeable in arc flash safety

  • May be required to install power quality meters and data loggers on power distribution equipment

  • Capable of collecting and evaluating data from SCADA and Power Monitoring Systems is required

  • 30% Overnight Travel may be required

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

  • TS SCI Eligible

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree

  • 10+ Years of Electrical Construction Experience

  • Supervisory master electrician in critical power installations

  • Expert level knowledge in the installation, calibration, checkout, and troubleshooting of Electrical Controls and PLCs

  • Excellent problem solving skills

  • Ability to conduct technical presentations and discuss arc flash, and short circuit studies as subject matter with authority

  • Ability to test, operate and maintain power distribution equipment with the critical facility sector

  • Knowledge of NFPA Fire Alarm code and testing requirements
