Our client is supporting more than a dozen developing countries in with pharmaceutical traceability strategies, implementation roadmaps and technology solutions. The project is providing technical assistance to those governments to assess their current health commodity data landscape, in particularly in light of implementation of new supply chain IT solutions such as logistics management information systems (LMIS), ERPs, and supply chain control towers. You will be part of the Health Systems Strengthening team and will support countries in developing and implementing their strategic plans for traceability implementation. You will provide technical assistance countries that are implementing traceability initiatives – batch/lot, authentication, and/or track and trace – in their supply chains. The scope of this support can range from developing and delivering education and training to strategy development, technology solutions design, and systems implementation. In this capacity, s/he will collaborate with a range of partners from project staff to high-level government officials both in the United States and abroad (i.e. sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, Latin America) to develop informed recommendations and drive consensus around strategy and approach that is relevant to that country’s context.

The Global Standards & Traceability Technical Advisor will be a self-motivated, out-of-the-box thinker who is able to develop cost-effective innovative solutions with minimal oversight. You will demonstrate the ability to work independently and effectively to get results across cultures and in ambiguous environments. This position requires a willingness to travel internationally up to 50% of the time.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 3+ years of experience designing traceability solutions.

  • 3+ years of experience in supply chain management.

  • Experience implementing the GS1 system of standards, in particular, standards for data exchange including a minimum EPCIS/CBV.

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Experience developing traceability systems architectures.

  • Experience implementing RFID, barcodes, QR codes, or other automatic identification capture technology for asset tracking.

  • Experience working with/for a health commodity (pharmaceuticals, medical devices, consumer goods) distributer, wholesaler, or manufacturer.

  • Experience with process development and implementation with logistics and/or warehouse management providers.

  • Experience implementing requirements for the US Drug Supply Chain Security Act, the EU Falsified Medicines Directive, or other relevant regulations.

  • Experience living and/or working in developing countries.

  • Multi-lingual in French, Spanish, or Portuguese.
