Mission for Operations Manager

The mission for the Operations Manager is to drive operational costs and efficiency at scale by managing the ongoing support of client engagements/programs of the Opower and DataRaker platforms. Utilizing a combination of operational excellence and workflow management, the Operations Manager provides a clean stream of client deliverables to the utility’s end customers through a 24/7 operations center. The Operations Manager utilizes their knowledge of process optimization to identify areas of operational weakness, drive process improvements, and advise operational tooling prioritization for cross-functional internal teams, ensuring operational viability and risk mitigation at present as we work towards the scalable future.


No specific work experience required. Preference for:

  • Engineering degree (Industrial, Chemical, or like preferred)


  • Ongoing Operations (within 3 months)

  • Learn SQL well enough to construct ad-hoc queries as necessary

  • Learn application infrastructure well enough to determine the impact of various changes

  • Learn vendor ecosystem understanding the impacts of changes

  • Learn how various configuration issues and client data issues manifest in our system and how to quickly classify and resolve known failure classes

  • Identify and clearly communicate relative priority of fixing problems

  • Able to recognize early when timelines will be slipped and pull additional resources to meet requirements

  • Communicate status updates to internal teams and vendors

  • Ask for help when needed

  • Ensure client commitments/expectations are met “whatever it takes”

  • Do no harm (Don’t solve a problem in a way that hurts other teams or clients)

  • Weekend work is periodically required for this role as prescribed by the needs of the product lines supported

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Work with Oracle's world class technology to develop, implement, and support Oracle's global infrastructure.

As a member of the IT organization, provide testing and basic analysis of situations/data that support Oracle's standard infrastructure systems.

Work involves some problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and procedures. BS or equivalent experience in programming on enterprise or department servers or systems.
